The literal moving of the shifter is fast and easy. It's the rest that's slow, on top of the fact that the truck is slow to move power wise as well. Makes the fast shifter moving pointless.

I can see that I guess. The rev hang doesn't help with smooth, quick shifting either.

LOL, grass is greener I guess. I think my truck drives great, shifting is more smooth, almost mushy, than anything I've driven before. You think the RA60 has long throws, it's nothing compared to the older trucks. The shift knob end on a H42 from a FJ40 must have moved 2 feet. It's probably just habit, but I wish my transmission shifted more like my old W56, where each shift was a little more clearly defined. Can't anyone compare the TRD feel to maybe a 1st gen Tacoma or 79-95?

I had to Google what rev hang is. Why does it irritate you guys? I'm not sure if I notice it but then I don't have any experience with performance cars that I guess don't do it? On my last truck I actually replaced the dash pot when it failed because I didn't like having the throttle body butterfly slam shut, which I assume would be the opposite of rev hang.

If you're clutch is clipping already, you might wanna look in to a Stage 2 or Stage 3 clutch pretty soon. Mine went from slight slippage here and there to "i can't even go in to boost in any gear" in about 2-3 months time

Second Tacoma here...both were manuals. Don't think my wife and I would drive anything else! Seventeen years and 240000 km on our 97 with a five speed manual and we sold it with the original clutch. Will be celebrating the first birthday of our six speed 2015 DCSB in a week!

When my truck is paid off in a few years I'm considering trying out the URD clutch; stock is ok but it's a fickle bitch sometimes. But I also want to eventually supercharge it so it's good to know that the clutch needs upgrading and I can do both at once.

Case in point: I took my Rubicon in for a cylinder head replacement and got a call from the dealership the next day....."the good news is your cylinder head went in just fine, but the bad news is that the tech isn't used to driving manuals and drove your Jeep into a wall."

    True story.

The rev hang can be excessive sometimes and it makes it hard to time the shift properly. Coming from old school cable operated throttles, it was something I had to adjust to on the Tacoma.

I have to shift slower and the rev hang makes shifting behavior change during different parts of the RPM band which is why I've had more hard shifts in the Tacoma then any other manual vehicle. But it's a truck so I hope it'll keep up with the relative abuse.

Bilstein 5100's set at .85, OME 885x coils w/ 1/2" top plate spacers, Total Chaos UCA's, Wheelers 1.5" HD 3 leaf progressive AAL w/ factory overload leaf, DT Pipe Bomb Ypipe, Vibrant resonator, Magnaflow pro series catback system, URD Short Throw Shift Kit, Debadged, BHLM, BTLM, 6000K BiXenon Headlights & Fogs.
I got one too, 13 4x4 3" on 285's. URD short throw and TRD knob. 75,000 miles had clutch squeak tsb done warrantied at 30k and throwout bearing chirp tsb done at 59,999 miles warrantied :cool::cool: . Love the 6 speed, I do a lot of towing and I love the control the manual gives (other than the super tall reverse gear that slowly kills my clutch backing up inclines)

Had to smoke my clutch the other day getting out of a parking lot, was a super tight squeeze getting out and I had about a foot of space between me and the car behind me and was sitting on a steep incline, pulled the E brake and roasted clutch for a second to prevent any roll back. Sigh.

I smell my clutch at least once every two weeks if not more. 58k miles and no issues so far.

I'm usually pretty good about not roasting it. Every so often when backing up my driveway I'll get a hint of clutch smell, but I've learned to just let it out once I'm straight on the spot and not slip it much. Then slam the brakes to not make a hole in my garage door

If I'm doing some steep reversing that doesn't require turning, I'll throw it in 4lo to help out.
