whoa whoa whoa, A LOT more to this story huh

Just kidding. Anyway, it is very noticeable going to reverse vs 1st. The feel, a beep, back-up camera etc... Not a easy thing to confuse the two.

I watched a you tube video on the tacoma going on reverse. he had to give a little push, but i also saw a video on a corolla... it has the ring where you need to lift up in order to go into reverse... why dont they have that???

I would not worry about it as there is a good bit of resistance, in over 11 years of this shift pattern i have not accidentally hit Reverse a single time.

Hate this shift pattern tbh I have put it reverse multiple times but I ended up installing the urd short shifter and it made it a little harder to put it in reverse in good way so that has stopped my issues and shifter feels great now.

There's a springed gate. However, I have accidentally slammed it into R going for 1st when a light changes sooner than expected or I havent had my coffee yet. Mostly not having the coffee flowing yet.

    Transaxle vs transmission

Would seem to be totally different shifting mechanisms.

Yes, Corolla is cable to the transaxle and sloppy.

The Tacoma is direct lever into the transmission. Far better for feel.

Just a gated selector, not hard it's easy enough. Took getting use to but after 100k it's all I like and prefer it. Easy off road 1st & Rev right there for easy use. Excellent for parking options, easy quick selection from a stop up or down hill.

Shifting into reverse isn't the issue.

The problem is how damn tall the gear is. I mean, unless ya like doing 50mph in reverse, it's pretty ridiculous

Otherwise, MT Tacos rule. So, so fun to drive
