    I got the premium and tech packages, and the tonneau cover. No regrets with the heated seats, sunroof, or any of that.

    My regrets are all related to dents, dings, and trail damage.

    Get the stick. It's a dying art. The truck will also have higher resale value later.

    I'm not sure about a higher resale value. More like you have every enthusiast by the balls when it comes to price.

    I gave up looking for a used manual tacoma and bought new. The very few I found used were priced around new prices.

    So I guess resale on MT is there?

    I have a base model OR in a double cab short bed. The only thing I really wanted that my truck didn't have was heated seats. I got my truck for 32K so I was willing to take the hit. I ended up adding a heated seat kit from Amazon and I also got a new switch panel from toyota so all in it was like $200 to add heated seats.

    I'm not an expert, but would you want a high mileage "gear hunting" vehicle? Seems to me sticks last way longer, even if you have to putva $300 clutch on.

    maybe 30 years ago that was true. Not saying either lasts longer but you can’t put something out there when there is no evidence. Even with the “gear hunting” Nobody is bitching about the trannys blowing up. It’s not a 94 explorer.

    It’s not a good comparison because the auto is a double overdrive. Even with 4.88’s in the auto the manual pushes higher rpms with the 4.3’s

    So far I love how my MT drives. Everything is stock and I have not done the OVtune or ADM. I may do these later but at the moment I am leaving it since I am leasing(hoping to purchase at the end of lease). Like some people said the reverse gear is a little tall so it lacks a lot of torque at low speeds. There is the 2lo mod for this as well.

    For me, adaptive cruise control works great! I have used it many times on some long trips and so far I am loving it.

    I can get about 20-21 mpg on the highway if I am being a little easy on the skinny pedal but I am mostly driving in areas that are a few hundred feet above sea level at most. I would suspect that my mpg would drop a little if I am at a higher altitude. Usually I am averaging around 19 mpg combined.

    If you test drive a brand new MT make sure to keep in the back of your mind that the tranny needs a several thousand miles to break it in.

    So is the M/T. It's just that the ratios are a bit more... sane.

    Except for reverse. Reverse sucks.

    As others have stated, I’m also around 2.4k RPM going 70mph in 6th gear. I have a fair amount of weight added to the truck, and I’m running 255/80/17 tires. With the aforementioned, I average roughly 16-17 MPG.

    You get a sunglass holder with the MT which is a huge plus IMO :thumbsup:

    Got my '20 TRD Sport DCSB 6MT a month ago, and I am loving the truck every sec of it! So glad I got the 6MT over 6AT. Took me a while to find the truck for 4 years because it kept getting sold!

    I agree that the Resale Value on the 6MT will be even higher than 6AT. We will never know if the 4th Gen Tacoma will have 6MT.

    Harden your bark, there are storms on the horizon.
    One year later...

    Update. 2021 TRD OR MT in army green now rests where the blue bandit did for 15 years.

    First impression: WTF did all the storage cubbies go?? Cabin is quieter. Suspension feels like marshamallow coming off OME. Old sport seats were better, although not powered.

    Only 100 miles on the odometer thusfar....still getting familiar with the cog swapper but coming along nicely. Is first gear kindof short?

    Low options....wifi, sill protectors, flaps, all weathers, steps, bed lights, tailgate emblem. I didn't have a lot of choice on kit. Were only two examples of the tuck in my State to shop that were MT and green.

    I have owned both .not much difference in rpm between the two . Around 2k as far as shifting I would go with the manual you won’t have that gear hunting bullshit .best of luck on your choice .

    What's amazing to me is that you literally have to go to 5.29's in the AT to equal the final drive of the MT. That's how much better the gearing on the MT is. The reason why the AT hunts for gears is because so many of those gears are never in the right rpm range.

    I almost think that Toyota designed the AT Tacoma for a top speed of 300 mph, but didn't take into account aerodynamic laws

    Went 16 years without a manual and was able to find my 21 in a manual. I figured this could very well be my last chance to buy a manual truck new ever. Very happy with my decision and I am 100% ok with the fact that 15% of the time driving a manual will bring fun to my life, 75% of the time I will be cruising in 6th gear and 10% of the time I’ll be in traffic and wish I had an auto for that moment.

    My only gripe is the ratios. I wish I could swap reverse and 1st. I get that it’s a truck that goes so a low 1st gear makes sense...but then why is a reverse super tall? I wish first was a little taller so I could get going faster in traffic, but reverse is so tall that if you fully let off the clutch you are going too fast for normal parking lot backing up stuff. I guess it’s great if I find myself in an action movie and need to go flying backwards and nail a J turn

    Bucket list if I could get the particular engineer who signed off on the goofy ratios by the scruff of the neck:

    1. LOWER REVERSE FFS;
    2. 2nd a c*&t hair lower so that the gap isn't so goddamn large going 1-2;
    3. 6th a bit higher. Makes 5th more useful; and
    4. Lower the Tcase low range moar;

    That's all.

    The funny part is that Toyota has those ratios in the MTs that @RedBeard1 mentioned. RC61F? Something like that. @Jowett is messing with one. It doesn't sound like a direct swap into the Taco though.

    Toyota could have done it with little effort.

    3.5:1 or 4:1 would have been really nice LR as a pipe dream. No real complaints here though.
