Nice anodizing. I like the reverse lockout options on some of these, but I think the transmission has to be built that way.... not really sure. Mine’s not a true short shifter, just that the aftermarket knob is mounted about 1.5” shorter than stock. If I swapped for a true short shifter kit I’d probably have to raise the knob just a little. I may at some point just to get rid of the little bit of skip in the stock shifter.

I looked at the ‘slammer’ for a little while, decided it was a bit much. But for an STi, the Ashiko is a good choice. For the cayman, something a bit more oval seemed better.

I do really like the taller cylindrical look, just not in mine. Perhaps if I had an Audi TT?

Good reading here... thanks to all contributors!!! I just smoked my original clutch at 108K yesterday. Relatively new to manual, this is my second clutch that smoked at ~100K (my first was Hyundai Accent, my stick learning vehicle). In this Tacoma, I had been exceeding ~2K in 1st and 2nd, will change that behavior with the replaced clutch in Tacoma... getting to 3rd gear and higher much sooner!!!!

So, if I my driving behavior in Tacoma keeps the clutch okay, then that’s positive sign that I’m driving a stick “well”????? I’m “in training” ahead of buying a Porsche in ~2yrs.... I do know that there is a huge difference between manual trans in truck vs sports car (I recently drove Miatas for a short spell!!!)

Not aware of any good sticks in trucks. That's what I meant, just go buy a car with a stick and enjoy that.

If you think the stick in the tacoma is good (it's OK, not good, after a short throw and oil change), you probably haven't driven a good stick, or you're too emotionally invested in your truck (common on tw).

The only manual trucks out there are Tacos, Frontiers, or 3/4 ton diesel Rams. And Ram is discontinuing their manuals next model year. And no way I would consider a 4-banger Colorado. Or junk Frontiers. That leaves Tacos as the only viable option.

Well, if the stick in a Tacoma is no good, I'm just gonna have to make it good. I really don't want to spend 35-40k on a vehicle I don't want.

Gladiators have manual too, and Chevy did away with the Manual Colorado for 2019.
