Design a shifter relocation setup so that it can come through the floor in the stock location. I've thought it over a bit and it seems pretty reasonable. That said, I'm way too busy with school right now to even think of taking on any new projects, haha.

That would be pretty cool. But, really, not all that necessary. Moving the boot was no big deal. Now that it’s all assembled, it looks and functions as if nothing ever happened. You’d never know I changed anything by looking at it. Or driving it for that matter. Save the different ratios. Which, I’m still in love with btw.

Yeah, it's really not a big deal, though I know there are probably some people who would probably prefer to skip doing so. There always are, haha.

    What holes did you drill?

I had to make a custom transmission cross member for the 4x4 conversion. I was talking about the trans mount bolt holes I drilled into the new cross member being the correct size for the RC62f mount. I don't remember what size holes I drilled. That was about 3ish to 4ish years ago.
I apparently had a lapse written communication and failed to express myself properly. :anonymous:

Maybe question was asked but missed it, did you order a clutch for the RA or RC transmission when replacing, and would they be interchangeable, i.e. either one would work? Does the bolt pattern on the pressure plate match the 1GR-FE and 2GR-FKS?

The clutch and flywheel I am running is all 1gr stuff.

I believe that the 2grfks flywheel itself has a different flywheel to crank bolt pattern. So, that wouldn’t work. Just sayin.

The 3rd gen 2grfks clutch bolts right up to the 1gr flywheel. If you plan to run the OE (RC62F) release hardware, then that’s the way to go.

The pressure plates for both are listed as 311 mm P.C.D (Pitch Circle Diameter). Discs are 275mm with 21 spline 29.8mm dia. shaft. Flywheel step should be -1.5mm... but that needs verification.

Does your Spec clutch have noisy engagement?

Yeah. It’s a bit rowdy. I’m hoping that it’ll mellow out with some use. @TodayWasTHeDaY had the same experience with this clutch.

Mine had a howlingly noisy break in and at around 1800 miles it occasionally can be a bit noisy when slipping in first but is tamed down considerably both in noise and ease of driving.

Hopefully you guys would have some info....

Would anyone know the difference between an 07 FJ manual to a 2011 FJ Manual?

Carpart doesn't list them as interchangeable. I have a lead on an 07 in texas I could grab up.

As far as I know the only difference in internal upgrades or improvements. Hopefully someone can confirm that.

There are differences in the clutch slave cylinder hydraulic line routing, the noise insulator and some small internal differences but they will bolt up the same and are pretty much fully interchangeable.

I just got back home this afternoon from my first decent length trip with the new trans. Roughly 750 miles over three day period. Cruising at freeway speeds is so much nicer. Just quiet and mellow. Can actually hear the stereo without cranking it. I did 75-85 mph through the bulk of it. 2k-2500 rpm with a few jaunts up higher for passing. It’ll cruise happily at 90+ as well when you want to put some distance between yourself and that jagoff you just passed. It just glides along. Did some twisty mountain roads too on the way out. Lower gears there of course. The 1gr, even without getting into boost, does an admirable job of moving things along.

So jealous...Wish I had the technical know how, (and money) to swap in 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th gear out of the RC into my RA's.
I cruise at 70 mph at 2500 rpm, and notice my dad's truck (3rd gen) cruises at less than 2000 rpm at 70 mph.
Great follow up, and thread all together!
