Most of us are function over form here, you have a TRD off road, why not build a CAPABLE truck that also LOOKS COOL because even if you don't leave the pavement its CAPABLE of doing so and it will cost you the same if not less than a 6'' lift. You kind of put blood in the water with a bunch of sharks with your post. No worries man, take your time, research and get the most out of your hard earned money. Take a look at the 3rd gen build section for ideas, there are some GORGEOUS and capable builds that will cost you the same as your 6'' lift if not less. @JerryTaco is an example of one the first that comes to my mind.

even with 3" you can have some post install problems (front diff vibes) check the ECGS front diff vibes thread on here for info there.

For pictures check here or search some others
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/show-your-285-75-16-and-285-70-17.469963/page-5#post-14195849

But with a 6inch you're looking at a shit pile of problems after the lift and continuing problems.

The stress on the powertrain alone will make the truck a headache.

This...we're not trying to be dicks.
Its just such a painful thing to see lol.

Its like seeing stretch and poke wheels on a GTR or something.

I know you really want 35's here's @90yota 's gorgeous Off road on 35's and a way better suspension set up than a DB 6'' kit.

Welcome. Searching before posting would have gotten you much more useful information. But here ya go - there will be very little positive input on what you're planning on. It's not because people here are anti form over function, but because it actually makes the truck less capable. Go to the suspension section, use the search function, read, learn and make your choice. Good luck with whatever you decide.

@M1982N I suggest taking your truck to your local 4wheelparts. They'll have plenty of lifts to choose from and they'll do install as well. Having someone else do your lift wont be cheap though. I suggest learning to turn a wrench and do a lot of research. Will save you money in the future when your truck rides like hell and want to replace your suspension or needs maintenance. As far as getting advice and lifting it 6" for "looks" your not going to get anything good on TW. Your money, do what you want with it. Listen to others advice, you'll learn the hard way if not.

I'd take 4" kit with decent, longer than standard, coilovers. Much better suspension travel for 35"s with dropped crossmembers. Rough Country's spindles/crossmembers are ok, other parts can through away.

:( dont lump us all into that Hawaii bro state... i came to Hawaii from Colorado... i'll take Colorabro if you dont mind ;)

but seriously, OP, dont do a 6 inch lift. just..... dont.

anything more than 3" is just pointless.... do that and some clean 285s and keep your functionality and truck in tact.

@M1982N At this point, BS has ensued. Op if you're gonna go 6in db, might as well just go all the way to silence the lambs who roam these pastures. https://www.bulletproofsuspension.net/toyota-tacoma-10-12-inch/
If you want reliability and something that is "worry free" as you stated, go with some good old billies and your choice of coil + some uca's. If you do run the 3in lift as everyone is pushing for, and you really want 35"s, your gonna have to cut shit. 33"s are about as big as you should go for any 3in lift, your more than likely gonna have to trim something with 33"s. If you're up for the challenge, ive seen 35"s fitted with 3in lift, not a 2.5in lift, 3 in. Lots of cutting and moving of things and would suggest getting some fiber fenders https://www.mcneilracinginc.com/collections/16-tacoma/2016
If only you were 2wd, you could spindle that shit and sit in the sweet spot of looks.

Lift itself won't give you any more tire space, longer bump stops make it and then you loose uptravel and downtravel is minimal too. So many forget it all the time.

Drop bracket lift help to get real space and maintain suspension geometry.

    OMG... here we go now..

Reason for 6" is for Bro'in the BroHo's and mall....Then problems with truck 4WD parts wearing or breaking = taking bus to mall and the BroHo's ignore... problem un-solved.

Me thinks anything more than 3" raises your Bro status by amount truck raised over 3" ...

    It's all good Bro...

Hauling 1K #s... thats what a medium size pick up is made for. Add a driver and a passenger... and a regular size dog... yer right at the max.

OP what wheels are you thinking about??

I'd go 3" lift and 33's and get a nice aftermarket skid plate and paint it for the extra bro.

disregard these fuckin cum stains. I wheeled my taco with 6" TM Lift for years with TTORA. All lifts have limitations. This board is a great source of information for all Tacoma owners. Not just those who think they are hardcore.
