Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
I had my race car fall off a jackstand once because the 2x4 slid. Never again.

bro dont over-complicate it, just use the stands on a level surface

for backup u can leave the jack down there to hold it up. Throw a wheel under there between the floor and frame

give it a shake and if everything feels good go get ur work done knowing the drive to and from your house is more likely to get u killed or hurt at that point

Idk I had the grain the right way and if you look up online a lot of people suggest wood on jackstands like this
these were big jackstands the tops of them were awkwardly close to full width of frame

I’m just glad you’re willing to wrench on your own truck. Props for that.

I use Race Ramps on my Triumph TR3 when I'm working under it (as in this week). This lightweight cribbing, essentially bedliner-coated polystyrene foam blocks, are pricey little devils for what they are, but they work perfectly. I still use jackstands if I need to get to the hubs or something with the wheels off.

Race Ramps make a variety of these things, some literally configured as ramps and others (like mine) that work as cribbing to raise the wheels. My set of 2-piece 12-inch ramps give me about 18 inches of clearance from the garage floor to the bottom of the Triumph TR's frame. More than enough for access, especially as the complete underside is open -- the Race Ramps are under the tires.

I haven't tried them with either Tacoma yet. Jacking the trucks high enough to use both pieces probably wouldn't be easy or needed, but putting one part under each wheel could be nice to give a ton of room with complete security.

Those are the stand version. The ramp version of the race ramps is what I bought. It says on the side capacity 1500 lbs. I thought that must be wrong because very few cars are that light. Sure enough they flattened and now aren’t really useful anymore.

FWIW again lol, had my front end jacked up yesterday and reminded me of this thread, this is how I do it. Between the crossmember and exhaust hanger it pretty much prevents/reduces the jack stand from being able to kick forward or backwards. I suppose there's still side to side but I always give a hard shake and never had any movement. No clue where the factory point is supposed to be but this seems like plenty sturdy of a portion of the frame

Yeahhh replaced my other UCA in the cold yesterday afternoon and it was rough haha. I do everything in an old cluttered uninsulated barn behind the house we're renting and I can't even fit my whole truck enough to close the door. Sure beats having no place to work or working on the dirt though!

Nice I haven't explored many class 6 roads yet. I'm a little further southeast in NH, only 15 min from the border

Wow! Got any pix of those crushed Race Ramps? It would be interesting to see.

The company states 1500 lb capacity per crib, so for the four corners under my TR3 that’s a listed capacity of 6000 lb. The Triumph TR3 weighs about 2100 lb, so theoretically I could almost stack two more TR3s on top of mine!

Ever seen what a head looks like when a vehicle falls on it? Want me to describe it (no, I'm not actually going to)? I've seen when a vehicle falls on someone's chest or falls off the stands, rolls and pins someone between a wall and the vehicle too. It's overkill (no pun intended) but I use chocks and put cribbing under the vehicle frame if I'm lifting it and getting underneath. I also wear safety glasses religiously too. I've never dealt with a non-suicidal patient who woke up and thought or decided that they were going to get hurt that day.

<-- Paramedic and safety medic/HSE for a few years (decades) including working street EMS, offshore, flight, and international remote and hostile environments.
