Certainly, cloning the interiors and most of the mechanicals is cost effective. Its also kinda lazy and unimaginative. I'd personally opt for the LC over the 4Runner because its at least a little bit different and feels a little more grown up.

Maybe I'll see what they'll offer in trade in for a super low mileage 15' Taco TRDOR on a LC. I'd prefer NOT to get a 1st year model though.

I think it's time to sell two rides off, replace them with one and keep the stable at two vehicles.

My local dealer has over 20 Tacoma's on the lot, all new and sitting there. I've never seen them in this situation, as usually Tacoma's are spotty at best.

Ok, here me out on this. So, yes we know a whole lot of dealers have a good supply of Tacoma's. People forget before the whole 2020 situation, this was actually normal. Supply is starting to get back to "normal". Take my local dealer in 2018 for example. Plenty of Tacoma's and Tundra's...

    taco1.jpg

Now, fast forward to last month...

    taco2.jpg

So, many years ago, tons of Tacoma's sitting on the lots was actually the normal.

@Delta09 Correct. Now people are seeing more than 10 cars on a dealer lot and the sh%ts falling out of the sky, sales are tumbling, nothing is selling, the world is coming to an end. Pre-covid ALL DEALERS lots would have been full of cars, sales every weekend with giant blow up green apes attracting attention and nothing was said. It was just the norm. now when lots are full that must mean sales are down.

I felt right at home in the LC I test drove, plus I think it looks way better. I haven’t driven a 4G Tacoma, but did ride along during a test drive. It didn’t feel as well built as my 5G Runner and the LC. I can’t wait to line up my 5G, a 6G, and an LC side by side and compare.

The 2024 4Runner I bought rides really smooth and nice. Way better than the 2021 Tacoma I sold. Slow and mediocre miles per gallon, but solid as a rock.

One is an SUV with multilink suspension sprung for more comfort, the other is leaf sprung for moderate loads. Two different things.

I am going to climb up on my high horse and say something that sounds elitist but oh well...I worked for my money too.

Economy is pulling back. The models that people who have to finance are starting to pile up. The models that cash buyers would go after are still selling well. There is a reason why all the local dealers near me have no premium trims on the lot but a ton of SR and SR5s.

People who don't care about payments tend to buy higher end models. From the start it seems like half the people say WTF to the 4th gen price. The other half say it is what trucks cost now. People chasing payments will be more willing to give up shit they just don't need or creature comforts. I could go on but I am afraid I would only be stating the obvious.

Dealers in my upper midwest area will still have a lot of vehicles ready to be delivered early in the day without much inventory on the lots.

The "Kiss My Gritts" web app and searching Toyota's SmartPath with a big radius can give a good idea of product mix. Nice mid-tier builds in several Toyota models are manufactured but scarce on lots.

What many complain about will be futile if not silly whining for a good while. It is really clear that Toyota's geared up, designed and redesigned now making much stuff on TNGA-F and TNG-K platform with the Dynamic Force engine family now 2017 to present old. Auto making isn't easy nor is it fast. The new models are not even all released or in high volume yet. That tells me shut up or by something else.

    :)

I was thinking if only I had a time machine. I could go back in time and buy that dozen of 2.5 Tundras. I would be a bazillion heir today!

Last time I went to the Ford dealer there was a 4dr SuperDuty Larriat diesel, special order for $89k sitting there waiting for a buyer.

Well you are correct about that. It would say the following in case you don't want to open it.

YTD (though July) Sales Toyota = UP 11.1%
YTD Toyota share = UP 1.3 pt
    Top ten models YTD Toyota has 3 in the top ten = RAV4 #3 (+26%), Camry #8 (+2%) and Corolla #10 (+21%)
