they did. The video of it breaking up a mild incline incentive.

the welded in low clearance tow hitch incentive.

the fake track width using wheel offset TRD Pro instead of longer travel like everyone else incentive.

rent up food up should be plenty left over to replace a good working truck with that sweet welded on low clearance tow hitch.

Just about all new vehicles have priced themselves out of the affordable market. They will all sell less, with probably a higher per unit profit. Toyota makes it difficult for those of us who want a specific vehicle and don’t just buy off the lot. To get an access cab and manual is pretty limiting. Interest rates have really put a stop to impulse buys for people that really couldn’t afford it in the first place.

Im in no hurry to replace my 2012 Tacoma as I just don’t see the need with the current choices and prices. I will be in the market for a 2025 4R or LC, but will not be limiting my choices to Toyota.

doesn’t literally every other brand let you order exactly what you want
It’s built, shipped, and you get it.
Ford, Audi, Porsche, BMW, Jeep, probably more.
It has/had a larger enthusiast following than other brands. I don’t see the point of not doing that.
    “I want a white one”
“Oh well here’s a black one that’s all we got, to lose the sale.”

People looking for cheap used cars still look for what they want, not take whatever is available. Just like the grocery store.

The Ranger Raptor looks like its starts at 58k. Its a twin turbo 6 cylinder engine. Fully decked out vs like a trd sport/offroad Tacoma thats around 50-55k at the dealers. Toyota got way too greedy with this generation. If i were in the market right now I would just get the Raptor or zr2.

I requested what I think is the only semi-reasonable priced 4th, an SR double cab 4wd manual transmission. I didn’t want a lot of overpriced options either. My dealer has one coming with all weather floor mats and mudguards and it stickers for 38,700 and I’m tax exempt in the state I’m buying. A 3rd gen SR 4wd v6 was about 35k. The new manual 4wd SR gets the high output engine as well. As a previous owner of 2 3rd gen manual Trd off roads, I was very underwhelmed compared to the feel of my 4.0 manual FJ. The only thing I don’t like is the lack of a standard sliding rear window, which all SR double cab 3rd gens had.

    Agreed… but a base 2023 v6 4wd double cab was nowhere near 30k

I tell people who are going to buy a Volkswagen to get the extended warranty and sell it or trade it in the second that warranty expires. They not only break down a lot but they are incredibly expensive to fix compared to most other vehicles.

Ultra high prices for a midsized and smaller interior room than 2nd and 3rd gens is what turned me away from the 4th gen.

From what I see, the 4g is in line with the market on price. Everything I have seen also says the interior is the same or larger for every dimension.

I mean, sales for most things are down now days. I went to Walmart other day and whole department of bounty paper was full, not a single one sold. I remember it always used to be empty, it used to cost like 19$ and now its 27$.

People have no money to waste. Leave alone buying overpriced truck. The inflation is real and it is felt, even without inflation 4th gen does not look to appealing.

Economy is in horrible shape and its getting worse, more and more people are getting smarter of not dumping their money into overpriced cars manufacturers have gotten so greedy about.

Pretty much, I will def go for that raptors few years after. Just lettinng them work out issue first, twin turbo V6 for that price is a cake.

Having owned 3 double cab 3rd gen, the 4th gen changes to the seating position alone is better (my dad really didn’t like his head position which made him look out the top of the front windshield). Toyota made the front seat area feel bigger when I sat in it. I don’t mind slightly smaller feel at rear seats. I think the width increased as well or at least it felt like it.

Longer wheelbase, wider track, MUCH more usable low end power, boxed frame, is a big step forward for the platform. I’ve owned turbo 93-98 Supras as well and the turbos would often last 200k miles. Toyota has built reliable turbo motors in the past.

The single issue with the truck is the price… and the lack of a cheap 5 lug 2.7 grandpa option that phased out in 2015. The design of the 3rd was nice but overall was average at best when compared to brand reputation.

The dip in sales is less to do with this than the switchover to a brand new model on a massive assembly line. There was also a big hold up in getting the 4G across the border in Q1 because of delays of varying types. Par for the course for a new gen vehicle. Expect a huge surge in sales in Q2, even with the high prices.

So true. And Toyota seems to just be adding trims to the 4th gen with the pre-runner coming back and the new trail hunter.
