Sad to see Toyota totally missing the mark on these.

Too expensive, and that 4 cyl turbo just reeks of maintenance and longevity issues.

I guess time will tell. Maybe sales will pick up and these will end up being killer trucks.

May sales numbers should be the first hint of how Tacoma sales are doing. It’ll be six months into the 4th gen launch. No more excuses.

My local Toyota dealer has 37 sitting on the lot and I have still yet to see anyone around here driving a 4G.

Too expensive at $50k+. This comes from a long time (20+ years) Tacoma owner who has everything I own paid off/free and clear.
I didn't get to this place by pissing away my money.

Your last tacoma is a 2006? Not sure if a new tacoma is targeted at you.

The equivalent 2024 Tacoma to your 06 is only $38,695 after delivery, and it is improved in every way.

I decide what my target is. Spendable income gives me several options of my choice. That's what cash does.

The prices on these new tacomas are borderline retarded.

Toyota is trying to market the off road closer to pro to capture those profits. What is the benefit in buying the TRD pro .. your not getting front and rear lockers or anything to make it really interesting??? why not just get an Offroad and build the rest like you want. 60 - 70k for a mid size 4cylinder and not much better gas mileage ... what SAPS are buying these ??? NO THANK YOU

you want an acesscab / extracab but cant get the TRD Off Road package and the engines have less HP in SR/SR5 options as well ... you want the TRD Off road package and now have to look at the DC but really dont want a bulky a$$ vehicle that is why you look at the tacoma in the first place and not the tundra (not much difference now between the two) ... but you cant get the off road in xtracab so have to look at the dc ... the TRD Offroad Double cab is 48+k (have seen 54+k ... cringe) you dont need a double cab ... Basically they made the TRD Offroad package prohibitive for some buyers... im not hauling around 5 people in a truck ... thats why i have a car.

They should flip this around ... make the double cabs a work truck. after all it is a crew cab? alot of consumers out there do not need a double cab, but would like the TRD off Road Package.

the math just doesnt add up for this.

The Access CAB TRD Offroad was a nice truck for people that didnt want a double cab. if you want to haul people around just buy a car or get a fullsize truck.

Trying to make a DC in a mid size vehicle and downgrading the Access Cab / Xtra Cab line up seems like bad decision making.

Also the powered seats complaing in prior years was stupid .. who cares ...
chevy has a powered tail gate why doesnt toyota ... this is another who the hell cares about a powered tailgate ... silly .. everytime i see these jacka$$ youtubers demo these trucks and they get to tailgate ... just shake my head ... sad really that this is a selling point.

Disc breaks was a nice improvement .... overall though the markup on these vehicles is just crazy. You basically pay for a bunch of sh1+ you dont need

I paid $36,000 for my brand-spanking-new OR Tacoma in 2016. In today's dollars, that's $47,000. Which, of course, is about what an OR costs today.

    It's simply inflation.

i get it , But there is nothing simple about inflation ...... just sucks you cant buy a TRD Off Road in Access Cab / Extracab. i also purchased a 2016 OR in october of 2015 ... never had 1 single problem with it.

with inflation I guess we should keep expecting to eventually be at 57k in <10 years and everyone will say we got all these improvement to justify the cost when we are still just doing the same thing ...moving down a road to get from 1 point to another ... how much should something like that cost?... Doesnt something seem inherently wrong with that? Really does not seem like anyone (politicians) plans to do anything about debt. they spend more time bickering and b1tching to try and oust their political opponent.

All of these "new technology" and other marketing hype shouldnt push a truck up 10k (much of this technology already existed)...... many of these companies used inflation as justification to markup and increase margins ... it was an opportunity billed on inflations ... ??? when the goverment said there wasnt much inflation? i think we all know the answer that. i would argue some the real reason for inflation was greedy big corporations .... trying to widen those margins ... blaming things like covid ect.

We all know inflation is real, but Toyota is taking advantage in my opinion. Example - My wifes Subie, 2019 Premium ~27,xxx we we bough in late 2018. According to the inflation calculator Forester Premium inflation is what $33 / $34k. However, they are selling the 2024 Premiums for $31k with more "electronic crap" and more stuff than her current at the local dealer. Toyota knows folks will pay it, I will not.

Why buy one? They dont have anything more than just some lift, shocks and badging?

Would be worth it if they offered front rear electronic lockers (its badged pro but nothing spectacular) ... that would be the only reason for me. paying a premium for all the same features as an offroad with some varying shocks, lift, badging and ect just doest seem like a good move for me. just doesnt have that extra thing to make me cross the fence
