Could be if you can find the truck you want. Which many people will.

 

Unless you absolutely must have a 6-ft bed--or a hybrid powertrain that delivers only a tiny effciency gain-- there are a lot of good non-Tacoma options out there. Will be curious to see if its lost market share by the end of the year.

Most manufacturers would probably discontinue what ever model that sold less than 10,000 units a month. Instead Toyota is going to release the 6G next year in 2025. With Tacomas sitting on the lot and the Tundra engine recall, what does the timeline for the 6G look like?

 

The hybrid is all about power and torque, nothing about efficiency.

 

I haven't seen a lot of new 5th gen 4Runners on dealer lots over the past year. Out of the few that I've seen most are limiteds or sr5's. Not many TRD OR's or Pros. It's a solid platform. I miss my black 2020 TRD OR premium a lot, but not enough to pay the price increase for a new one. I might regret that when the 6th gen 4runners launch with the turbo 4 cylinder though.

Ugh, all the hate this generation from that…. If you dont like it or care about this fine , stick with what you have, nobody is standing over people saying your truck is inferior….FFS, new owners come and want a tacoma…, so they buy one, the bashing about the new 2024 is a bunch of bullshit, if you cant afford a new gen truck and are stuck with whatever generation you have like what you have and stfu with the Ridiculous fault finding crap…..
Yesterday wife and i went to dealer to actually sit in a 2024 ….holy shit its beautiful…she said BUY IT …..lol i said not yet 2025 color hopes of dark green for me, i will drive my paid off 2014 4 runner trail edition, a few more months, if they dont offer green then its Bronze for me …..kind of scary when wife tells you to but a new truck and i hold back lol…..

Have you seen the 2025 4Runner colors? I would imagine some of those might make it over to the Tacomas. They have a green called Everest.

 

Whew ill have to look now thank you very much………Yesterday we drove past dealer , wife is buying new Highlander , they are nice… i saw a bronze offroad, i actually sat in it…holy shit, bigger then my 4 runner just beautiful, then she says if you like it buy it……whoop. I said, no ill wait its weird when you can buy somthing you hold back..lol kids gone just wife and i , but im trying to cross fingers for green thank you for pointing this out, im looking now

You must not have looked too hard at it and the paper thin tailgate, cheap plastic everywhere and lack of build quality. 10 years driving your current platform and anything with tech and some goodies seems "beautiful."

 

Its not bigger than your 4runner, did you actually sit in the back seat dude, sure on paper its like 0.8'' more legroom, but the way the seat backs are designed its cramped asf, as someone who sits regularly in the backseat of a 4runner and tried the 24 rear seat myself and with a carseat. Your 4runner has more rear headroom, shoulder room and hip room.

 

Agreed, they are sliding into a descent. With these new prices... wow. I am already disappointed with 3G quality as it is.

 

You may be right or wrong. Bought a new 2024 4Runner. You must be in marketing.

2024 4Runner SR5. Replaced my trusty 2006 Tacoma TRD Off Road Quad Cab. Light years ahead of the technology on the 2006 (I am not a techno geek at age 71)
The rear cross traffic sensor is even more sensitive than my wife's Tesla Model 3. Not quite up to par with a Tesla but damn good enough for me!
