    Evening all:
Where's Mike, here's another way I could have attached the seat to the boat by plating it, had thought about this also! I should install another seat mount on a center bench on the other Jon boat, I like the way I did the one I just finished up, but this would be easier.
Only thing, there would be a lot of screw holes in the seat if I did it this way. Looks like he drilled 17 holes in the plate, plus 6 more for the base, that's a lot of holes!

Sun! I forgot what it looked like. Beautiful day here. I spent most of the morning writing large checks but the lovely weather canceled out any bad feelings.

We're heading to Montreal next week for the Formula 1 race. Should be, err, 'interesting' with SWMBO still in the back brace. She's determined to do it though. I just got a pretty nice backpack to haul stuff in; seeing that I'll be the sole hauler-of-stuff I thought it was worth the investment. It was on sale at REI so the outlay wasn't too bad. It's super comfortable; I loaded it up and can hardly feel it when I'm wearing it.

I still have backpacks with external frames, like the dinosaurs wore.
I'm curious as to how the newer types work, especially for people with bad backs.
My downhill skis were categorized by the place putting on bindings as "classic". I guess 1975 was a classic year. ;)
    Have fun on your trip!

TGIF for you . Don't miss the working rat race at all. I'm doing good. Hoping the weather stays nice for awhile so I can trim up some shrubs. Enjoy the weekend.

Thanks! I've got my fingers crossed that it goes well.

Your skis sound like our bikes. We have metal frames, friction shifters on the downtubes, and steel spokes in the wheels. When we show up at a group ride folks look at us with pity in their eyes. :)

I don't really know a lot about backpacks other than the one I carry work my laptop in. I tried using that as a gear hauler on a trip once, BIG mistake. For this trip I picked out a backpack from REI because: A) it was the right size, and 2) it was on sale. I think I got lucky. It's got a frame that suspends it away from the back so there is a gap between the main pack and the person. It's easy to slip on and off. And I can add a hydration thingie if I choose. (We're going to be in civilization so we don't need that for this trip.) I was a little unhappy with the weight at first but when I put it on the weight disappeared and it felt like almost nothing. It's got more straps than a S&M bordello, probably 2 of which I will ever use -- if I can figure out how! Mostly I'll just dump stuff in the big compartment and be done with it.

That looks like a nice one. I know, they make these things so that you can supposedly adjust them a thousand different ways. How many times have you looked at a strap and wondered what on earth it could be for...that's me.
