Moose poop is much cleaner than that ... actually looks exactly like this clever soap my wife has in the little downstairs half bath.

That stuff looks closer to bear scat, but it's not big enough.

OK now I know what moose poop looks like. Plus I've actually seen a moose in the wild, crossing the road when I was in New Hampshire. It was pretty far off but still impressive.

And I know what mushrooms look like too! ;) This ain't mushrooms I guarantee.

Your Alaskan bear are much bigger than ours, thus bigger poop! :D Could be a young bear also :notsure:.

I just had bear poop in the yard full of small seeds, looks like it is raiding bird feeders.

Darn, must be a city girl, just like Sue I thought everyone in Montana was an expert on scat!

I thought about that, we have bird nests in the vicinity but no feeders. I didn't see any seeds in the scat. Really dark gray, almost black in color. I thought bear, also thought possibly coyote; I've heard stories about them being on the ridge north of us, maybe they've made it south. But I have this mental image of coyotes being smallish, like a very lean German Shepherd; this poo looks too big. But then I'm no expert, else I would not be here on this truck forum asking a bunch of people I've never seen about animal poop! o_O:eek::p:thumbsup:
I know right? Another bubble burst.
Thanks Rob. Also possible although I am not aware of any dogs that size anywhere nearby, in particular any that get loose. Most folks around here with dogs are pretty good about keeping them close to home.

Seriously could be a black bear, coyotes are tall and skinny like you said. The black bears here this year have been really healthy and good sized. I've seen several on base already.

Usually coyote scat has a lot of hair in it due to their diet, doesn't look like coyote scat that I've seen.

Hey Dave, I got to thinking and looked up the attached pictures. Do they look similar?

cougar scat.jpgcougar scat 1.jpg These are pics of cougar scat. There have been reports?? of sightings before in the NJ/PA areas. Could it be?
