Sue, happy thanksgiving to you and all the others!

 

Best fishing friend passed away this afternoon after a bout with cancer. Lots of good memories live on though.

Will be giving eulogy Tuesday at his funeral and serving as a pall bearer.

Last visited with him ( he lived 150 miles away) on November 5 TH and said our goodbyes and spoke from the heart about the depth of our friendship.

I take great comfort in knowing he is in a better place.

We alway said it would be light line and clear water fishing when we get there.

 

Hoping for a good report.

Happy Thanksgiving to all and many thanks for your condolences.

My friend manufactured lures and I have quite a number of them. At first I considered putting them away in pristine condition in memory of him, but then remembered he designed and built them to be used and enjoyed. I will honor him by using them as intended and build additional memories of fish caught on ones he designed and built.

There will be a lot of bass and crappie spared the hook after his lures are gone.

Gary, sorry to read about the loss of your friend. I lost my best friend to cancer this summer. I hate that miserable disease.

I like the way you are honoring his memory. He will be right there fishing with you.

 

Being able to say your goodbyes is something most people don't get to do.

Mike, you are so right about the goodbyes.

I was blessed to spend time with both of my parents when it was obvious their time was short. It really helped with the grieving process and finding closure and healing. I can't imagine losing a family member or close friend suddenly and/or tragically and having to deal with so many things left unsaid.

Maybe a little extra effort to let them know we love and appreciate them would go a long way in avoiding guilt feelings if faced with a sudden departure.

 

The pace of life spreads people out so thin that a blur is all that's left.
You always hear "where did the time go?"
The time went doing crap for everyone else. And when it's finally your time, there is none to get.
