Hi Carl, had oaks in the old house and was constantly picking up branches and twigs. Got a 55 gallon drum and made a burn barrel which worked well. Now in this house we have an ash and that will have to come down this summer because of ash borers:annoyed:. Some days we can't win:facepalm:.

We are losing a lot of ash in the area also, fortunately I don't have any of them near the yard. I also have quite a few big white pines down in my woods, but they are where I don't need to have to do any work on them. So far I have removed over 100 large trees from the property, mostly when I cleared the back to build the garage when I cut 90 big white pines down, this tree thing is getting old! :(

So are we Carl:rofl:. Several years ago we hired a conservationist type to map out our ground upstate and find loggers to log without clear cutting. Lots of hardwoods and this spring we will hopefully be getting a logging contract. Hate to see the trees get blighted and unusable.

Sending thoughts and prayers for her and you all!!!

    Happy Belated Birthday, Rob!!!

Another snow storm hitting the east coast - looks like we'll just get a few inches this time. I am ready for Spring at this point.

Lynn is down with a cold - hoping it's not the rough one that's been going around...and trying to avoid it myself!

    Be safe out there!!!

That sux, I’ve got 6 ash trees lining the back of the lot that I planted from 2’ seedlings the year I bought the house in ‘96. I know I’m going to lose them, may not live long enough to see replacements get as big :(

Welcome to the porch! Plenty of seats, should even be a rocker somewhere. Did you bring anything for the cooler?

If there is ice in the cooler we can melt a little with this. Yes, that is my family crest on the bottle :) BAA16DB9-54AF-43F0-A27C-C0A99E4FA8F3.jpg

    Welcome.
The porch welcomes you. It is getting a little crowded again so you may be required to add some “sweat equity “ for us to do another addition.
Going to add a few more wide screens.
Oh yea, there is one recliner in the corner.
As Sheldon would say “That’s my spot”
If your cooler additions can run the mower too then we can get Dave off his butt and make the place a little more respectable..

    Morning all:
If we would get rid of the push mower we might get more volunteers to mow the yard. :D
Darn, about 3 1/2 hrs. of raking branches yesterday, getting there! We made 2 piles of heavier branches that the neighbor didn't want, another buddy is going to use them in his barrel stove, he already loaded up one pile this morning, win win for everyone!
The neighbor that is cutting the trees down said I didn't have to do anything and that he would do all the cleanup. Figured as long as I'm able to help him and cut down on his work I would give him a hand, probably save him a good two days work of just cleaning up the branches and small sticks. His son was supposed to help out, but he's sick! :( Hey, the two old guys will get it done, I'm 70 and I think the neighbor is 69!

    Good morning gang,
Rain here in Kalifornia again, stopped long enough this morning to let the pup out and feed him. We did another o/n snow camping trip Sunday. When we get a stretch of good weather, a friend and I want to do a motorcycle trip to the coast, two nighter, camping out.

The Emerald Ash Borer is a really big problem. There will not be enough ash to make baseball bats in less than 10 years.

    You go until you can't....

My dad came from a family of 12. He outlived em all by 15+ years. Died literally on his way to work just after his 89th birthday.

    Great lesson there....
