evening all: WOW!!! now I know why mark was nervous, 50 others to compete with.

BUT! he got the job. read the article; very impressive.
    CONGRATULATIONS!! SIR

but we can still call you mark; can't we ??? ;)
by chance, and I know you'll be pretty busy for awhile, does the college library have books titled - a short history of the slocum, slocumb,& slocomb families 1637-1881 & a second volume 1637-1908, written by charles e. slocum, M.D. published 1908?
I would assume the lackawana historical society has these. I should contact them, and find out.

my great, great grandfather (dr. silas b. robinson) married maria slocum. that's where my connection to the slocums comes from.
don't go out of you'r way on this. reason I,m asking is because I have these books, and am wondering how many are still around. so as you make your contacts, in that area, maby you could just mention it.
    thanks! and again- congrats!!!

Thanks everyone!! Great day yesterday!! I'm still on a adrenelin high!

Carl - I'm sure we don't have them in our library. As a 2 year private college, we operate like a community college so our holdings are much more general. I'll ask our librarian to check with the University of Scranton's library- right next to the Historical Society - they have a huge library and many times get donations. We just don't have the space to hold a lot.

    And, yes, Mark it is!!

 OK if I stick with "6" ... I'm just more comfortable with a "callsign" vs first name for a retired O-6. Best boss I ever had is still AD and O-6 now ... he calls me brother all the time, I call him OB (his callsign), can't bring myself to "Mike." Lot of habits established over 26 yrs are hard to break, ya' know, Sir? ;)

I need to move us into the guest bedroom this weekend and clear out the master bedroom and bath to get ready for the work over the next two weeks.

Mornin' Rob...I'll try my darndest to enjoy it...food shopping, get cartridges for printer, fix outdoor light in garden(bad connection), work out at gym, fortunately laundry was done during the week. LOL.. still have Sunday to relax...you have a good weekend and stay warm...Ken

Hi Tom, we had a painter( I hate painting ) come in to give us a price for the bedroom and master bath and haven't heard back from him...probably didn't need the work...bedroom furniture is a bit heavy to move so I would have to get the kids to help(thats a joke)...have to live with the color we have now and hope we get a painter someday...Ken

I want to paint my room, but... then I'd have to take all the stuff off the walls, move the furniture :anonymous: Maybe someday.
