Each person has to decide how to handle a cancer diagnosis based on best available information.

Surgeon told me I would have been dead within a year if the melanoma had not been diagnosed early and removed.

    Good morning crew.
Some good news from the Camp Fire here in Kalifornia towns/communities of Magalia, Concow, Paradise, missing persons down to 11 people, remains of 85 people, down from 89.
Passing along my check writing responsibilities for our small road association, so no more things I have to worry about. Have done it for 12 years.

Still amazes me how quickly news fades even as devastating as the California fires have been.Barely see it in the news

    Good morning Susan, gang,
Yes. What of the volcano in Hawaii? The TV out of Sacramento last night had a expert on, said climate change was not responsible for the fire in Paradise. Conditions were normal.
Yayhoo, measurable snow here this AM.

Well, at least my buddy is doing worse than me, just seems like he can't get a break on a deer. I went through a section of woods to try to push something out to him, I did, but where it went through he couldn't see what it was. :pout:

Thanks for the kind words. Wilhelm was quite a character indeed.

The reason I grumble about their treatment decisions is that any male who lives long enough will get prostate cancer. Expect it, catch it early, treat it, move on. Even at 85+ like he was. Will took pretty good care of himself in general and was a healthy guy. When he got the diagnosis he ignored it until it began affecting him, then he (and wife!) chose to do stuff like drinking a hydrogen peroxide solution every morning because they read an internet site that said it can cure cancer. If they'd used their heads Will would still be with us. But like you all say, decisions like that are personal. And at the end of the day, oddball decisions like that are what made him such a character and so worth knowing.

Service is tomorrow. Should be a hoot, what with all the 'interesting' folks he gathered around him throughout his life.

Snowmaggedon (Fake News?) looks like it's on the way for the south. We have been getting too much weather news telling us! And "this time" we may get a big one,but doubt it seriously.Seems like the grocery stores are in cahoots with the weather people!
The one thing nice is we got rid of the cable a couple years ago,and thank the good lord that we don't have The Weather Channel anymore.l miss the hotties on there, but they act like the Fox News weather channel.*Apoligize if you like watching Fox News, but here again ya got your hotties on there too!
End note,we have 3 Subaru's at the house to drive,so the taco won't move. What! I haven't put any weight in it yet.

I did get bread and milk last night, just in case we get snowed in for a couple days...

I kinda miss the weather channel, but my local news weather guys are pretty on top of it. Have to laugh some times when folks complain about how off they are for their area.... like some guys who had superstorm sandy miss them, and say it was overblown, Tell those on long island how lame the storm was. Or when we had our flood in '15 and Saturday night, the main cell hadn't hit yet... tell all those flooded out, it was lame. I wouldn't want their job. They can never win...

I agree Susan that there are some folks out there as you said about maybe being out of the zone that took a hard hit.And we all should listen and respect their reports. The weather in NE Tennessee is very fickle. The pattern either hits on one side or the other with the mountains where l live.So at times it can be a crap shot. The winters storms we do get,go away in just a couple days. The ground here is not even frozen so it will all melt before causing to many problems.Honestly,l would love to see a big one come through here, only because it doesn't happen very often

Service was truly moving. Beautiful day, beautiful old rural church on a hilltop. True friends spoke well of the man from their hearts. Military honor guard showed up -- to the surprise of the widow -- and did the flag and taps. The luncheon was nice too, walking and talking and commiserating among the incredible variety of people who came to pay respects. Even the winds were favorable.

IT'S OVER! We saw more deer than we ever saw during a hunting season, and probably had the worse luck possible! We saw roughly 120 deer and ended up getting one, we still have flintlock season though!!!

    Just thought of a plan!
My buddy and I could make up some signs with "WILL WORK FOR VENISON" on them and stand along the road, maybe someone will have pity on us and donate some! o_O
OR: we could go on patrol for a fresh road kill----we're getting desperate!

Still some snow around here where the sun doesn't shine. So to speak. :)
Repo and I were out yesterday, don't care for these short daylight days. Took my new 4 season tent out last night minus the fly which I didn't need to save some weight. Used my rare KAP Arctic stove to melt snow and fix dinner. Uses kerosene.

    Good morning Susan, gang.
According to the radio, Mammoth Mt. ski area down by Yosemite NP, has 6' of snow now, most in the nation.
Still missing people from the Camp Fire in Paradise is down to 6 people.
When taking my tent down yesterday morning, Repo was huffing, growling, finally realized that after I took the tent poles off the tent, it slowly settled as air inside it escaped. Guess he thought some blob was in it. Too funny, he is a character sometimes.

Good to hear that the number of missing people after the fire has been drastically reduced and that most of them are safe and weren't casualties.

With a permit from the Forest Service, we were allowed to burn yard debris before the big fire. Then it was suspended, but per the Sheriff's Blotter in the paper, reports were coming in about people burning before this latest rain and snow which then ended fire season, open burning allowed then with no permit, but only on burn days. We either can call or go online to see if it is a permissible burn day. People should know that by now.
