We refueled you guys a few times. I saw flight ops into the north one night, just off the coast. Still haunts me.

Oh dear god...you'd swear that the end of the world is coming!
It's snow. That happens in the winter. Well that's what happens here in N.E. PA.
Yesterday the school district that I live in had a 2 hour delay...for a whole 1/2" of snow!!!
I guess people need to be told what to do these days...I don't know.
    ps...no I'm not a cranky old man I just think/plan ahead.
    Rant over.:)

When I was going to school unless it was like 4 or 6 inches school wasn’t closed.
I use to walk. Never gave it a second thought.

When I was a kid the only time school was canceled was when the teachers went on strike, once in 12 years. I grew up in Detroit, they didn’t even plow the side streets, we didn’t have school buses. If the snow was bad, you left early. When school was over you rushed home so you could make some money shoveling sidewalks. Good morning all you old farts.

    Morning all:
 Yea, there's a blizzard coming, they're calling for 4-8" and people are stocking up for a month!
When I was in elementary school I would walk down off a hill into town and wait for the school bus, if it didn't show up it was stuck out in the country somewhere and after waiting awhile would have to walk back home.
At that time there was another elementary school 1/2 block up from where we were waiting for the bus o_O, ended up going there for 4th-6th grade after a merger, then I could walk to school everyday. The high school was in town, ended up walking or driving there from 7th-12th grade.

Just found this forum.....hard to believe I just turned 63! It’s a good and bad thang. Good to be alive, sucks to get old.....
Speaking of snow....being here inbetween Houston and Galveston, it’s super rare to ever get snow, like decades.
We had snow last year, shuts everything down. No one knows how to drive on it here.
I remember years ago we were forecasted to get snow like the next day, they shut everything down the day before, it didn’t snow the next day.
I lived in Moscow for 4 years early/mid-90’s.
Left here in Nov ‘93, it was 80 F. Got off the plane in Moscow, they were having one of their coldest winters in 100 years, my luck, was -36 F ambient.
That same year on May 1st, I was on the phone with some coworkers in Houston. They were telling me how hot and humid it was in a Houston.
I told them I was looking out the window of my hi-rise flat at the lake....that still had a foot of ice covering it....with ice fishermen.
    I don’t like cold.....
You never hear of someone retiring and moving up north....:amen:

When I was visiting aunts, uncles in Minnesota 18 months ago, I was talking with one uncle about ice fishing. Our family had two lakes on their properties, would drag a ice house out on the lakes. Snagged my uncles Coleman lantern he used when out, maybe it was to heat the ice house up.

Welcome to the over 60 thread Lee. We need to clean the snow off the porch and the snow shovel is to your left.

:spy: morning all. Don't remember elementary school ever being closed due to snow. Remember riding the bus in high school during a good storm.
