As kids in the early 60's we'd chase bears out of the CG there. Private CG's are the worst for being close. Many of them in N Kalifornia are quite spacious.

Duane, we must have crossed paths in those days. We went there every year for many years.

Ken, went camping there a few times, at least once that I can remember when we chased the bears. No traffic or crowds back then.

Good afternoon Susan. Today is a lot different than when we were young. Most counties now bus 90% or better of the students to school every day. With the USA being so lawsuit happy schools have no choice but to cancel school to avoid lawsuits in the event of a bus collision.

The local elementary school in my neighborhood is now a TAG school. 100% of the children are bussed or car pooled in every day. We do not even have an adult crossing guard anymore.

Well, whopping 4" of snow so far. Heard sleet bouncing of the windows earlier.
Raining now then it's supposed to turn back to snow.
The local weather is saying it's all going to end around 10.
So I'm waiting for it all to stop then the quad, snowblower and shovels come out.

And for all you old farts who have to use reading glasses....
I have used these for the last few years.
    Since I don’t carry a purse...
And didn’t like to depend on wife to carry my reading glasses...
Or myself trying to carry them, especially when wearing a T-shirt with no pocket.
Or going into a restaurant and can’t read their dang fancy font, especially in low lighting.
I have these with me everywhere I go because they are attached to the back of my phone.

And works with how I mount my phone in my truck, go to Post #5:

Good morning all. Just joined TW last month and just turned 63 last week. Life is good! No snow here at the Jersey Shore, just a lot of rain, with temps close to 50. Puts a damper on going out and tinkering with the truck. Tomorrows another day. Can't wait. My wife just doesn't understand the obsession.

I've left my truck stock for the most part. Got it to get firewood in the woods, get to town if roads are deep in snow, reliable transportation, gas mileage, secure inside storage when camping/traveling. More car like than my Civic I had.

    I just turned 63....too.
All the vehicles I have owned I rarely did anything to them.
When the new style of Tacoma’s were coming out, 2016, I started looking at them, larger size, better for me since I’m 6’-3” 210 lbs.
Then when researching came across Tacomaworld forum....a good and a bad thang.
My Taco became my mad scientist project....
Wife, “what are all these deliveries for and why are you taking apart your new truck? Is something wrong? Isn’t under warranty?”
Me....uuuuuh....I’m making it better. Hey, do you wanna go shop for some shoes for you?
    No problema!

Wife, “Why do you buy soo many guns?”
Me, Because I’m from a Texas and they are fun to shoot. Wife, “why do you have so many bullets?”
Me, IF there is ever a Zombie apocalypse...Wanna go shooting?
Wife, “ok, it is fun! When I was in high school in Russia I had a class where we had to disassemble and put back together and practice shooting a AK47.....”
Me, Hey, let’s go shoe shopping....

Over 60 here and enjoying my first (well sort of) Taco.

Just finished shoveling heavy wet slop. Ugh. At least we didn’t get much. Only a couple inches.

Our neighbor cleared our road of snow on Friday, all the rain made it heavy to shovel. More rain today, turning to snow late. Was thinking of going to see the longboard races, but forecast looks like rain even there, turning to snow early afternoon. Check out Plumas Ski Club.

    Morning all:
We had about 4" of powdery snow here, which is down to about 2" now and saturated with water from the rain we are now getting. Now it's supposed to go down to 2 degrees tonight which will turn what remains of it into solid ice. :annoyed:
