I wish. Plenty to do & not enough time. Installed 7 fire extinguishers & smoke detectors in an old apt. building today for a property mgr. Then mixed some metal epoxy to patch a rusty fire escape. Then trimmed hedges at my rental house & cut back scrub palms at the corner of street.
Got tired of stuff scraping side of Tacoma when making a right turn.
Then replaced a porch step where somebody drove into it, picked up litter & 19 cents too!
Gotta get up at 5 am to start mowing at our commercial rental before the sun beats me down.

    Morning all:

We all had that choice years ago, the term used was "bums", I don't know what they call them today but there sure seems to be enough of them around anymore.

I think life is somewhat backwards...retirement should be first then a working career that way you would have enough energy and health to enjoy it

Now that I am retired, everyone asks.....

What do you do for work.

I simply reply," I am a Golf Bum".

I'm with a lot of others, I need to go back to work to get a rest! o_O Seems like every time I turn around there's another project that needs to be done, cross 5 projects off the list and then add more to it, never ending! :(

Just added a crossbow scope to the inventory just in case ! Bought a Truglo opti-speed x-bow scope on sale from Dicks Sporting for just under $100 with tax, most places sell them for $199. Don't know how good they are, but from what I have read on them the people that have them are satisfied with them.
Now have 3 scopes for the bow, the one that came with it, an upgrade Hawk scope that's on it, and now this one, don't think I need another one!

Being retired for 25 years the most common question I get is don't you get bored? I tell them "Bored is what the unimaginative do to themselves".

When I look at the peeling paint on our house I just shrug my shoulders. I used to tackle the job myself. Now it's time to get estimates from younger guys.
My project list is way too long anyway : )

    Afternoon all:

You only have one list, I have lists all over the place!
Just thinking, I have seen some painters who are in business that shouldn't be allowed to own a paint brush or a roller. I can paint, some of the jobs I have seen I would classify at best as pathetic although they might look good at a distance!
I know there comes a time, but if you are capable the old saying "if you want it done right, do it yourself" seems to hold true in way too many instances anymore,
I don't believe you were on the porch when I was talking about my furnace that no one seemed to know how to set it up properly for 26 yrs., guess who had to learn how to do it, ME!!!!! :( One of the guys that cleans furnaces even put the wrong degree nozzle in it, IDIOT! Then there's the critical part that they were missing, pump pressure, 4 different people that are supposed to know what they are doing never touched that adjustment which was the biggest part of the problem.
Let's see: new roof put on that lasted 12 1/2yrs.-defective shingles from the mfg., I put the next roof on, metal roof on garage-ridge cap not installed properly so there is about 1/4" overlap on the one section, drop footer on the one side of the garage because the guy doing it forgot to dig down on that side, part of garage floor hand finished because they didn't send calcium that was included with the other cement loads.
New tires on 95 Tacoma w/ aluminum wheels, couple studs broke off, guy says SOMEONE over torqued them and they should be torqued at 110lbs, looked up the torque spec.--85lb., yup, the someone was him!
Hope I didn't scare you off from hiring a painter, just saying! :D

Damn Carl sounds like we had the same people doing work. I had to become a Jack of all trades(only problem is I was only a master at one) did roofing, siding, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, window installs(new construction windows) hate painting but did it out of nessecity, drywall and spackling plus heater repair and a new install. Was it all 100% or up to code . But it all worked and passed home inspector when house was sold. Now, I am very hesitant to hire a contractor but too old to be on the roof and the missus dont want me on a ladder. So I guess much isnt going to get done .

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
I always tell others -- about the age you have a good basis/knowledge to do "everything" then sadly you realize you are too old and frail to do "anything"

    Morning all:

I could add more Ken if I included people that did work for my mother. There are capable contractors out there that do good work but it's usually a crapshoot to find them.
I remember something I saw as I was building the the garage. They were framing out a big building, and one day I drove by and it looked like a big pile of sticks laying on the ground, apparently it collapsed from not being braced properly. After seeing that I probably had 3X the amount of bracing on my garage as I was building it, I sure as heck didn't want that to happen!
Good point Mark, I went to draw my compound bow and couldn't draw it, definitely seeing age taking its toll! :( :annoyed:

We're in luck Gary, when we get too old to draw a crossbow at least they make cranks for them, I'm not there YET!
