    Hi Susan, gang(sters),
I like my chrome too, nickel stoves, lanterns. Heck with the blacked out stuff, although I like the look a little when pickups have black rims, to me a sort of "stock car" look, ready to hit the track.

I had cataract surgery in the right eye (have an stigmatism and got the corrective lens) in December and at first wasn't impressed until I had the left eye done in April. WOW no more glasses (except for low light reading or really small print) and I am glad I had it done. Best wishes for the wifes surgery Tom and a safe trip to Michigan.

PTSD has taken many lives of our Service Members. May their soul rest in peace and prayers for the family of the Veteran as well as their soul.

    Welcome to the porch edit.jpg
Found the old sign for the porch...welcome RL. I still have the chrome on my Tacoma as well. Adds a bit of class to them. Age is only a number, it's how you feel and keep active that counts. Nice toys you have. Enjoy hanging with the folks here ( and a very nice young lady Susan stops in from time to time to check up on us) and no BS like some other threads (damn kids).

    Have a good day all.

Good morning groovy guys & gals. I'm too young to feel this old! I am miserable with a case of diverticulitis. Doc says 10 days of antibiotics & rest. No alcohol either. Gotta change my diet too.
Time to pick up a good book. The renovation can wait.

    Morning all:
Welcome RL, find a comfy place on the porch and join in.

For those and their wives with problems that need fixin, hope all turns out well and a speedy recovery.

Just thinking, I had mentioned my buddy who is seeing 3 front sights on the flintlock, now he's having the same problem with a scoped gun. He doesn't like the idea of someone messing with his eyes, but if he wants to keep doing something that he likes to do he's going to have to get some type of corrective procedure done.
Strange how things work, years ago he probably would have had a better chance of getting a deer than me, especially with a FL. Now that has changed and I hope I can help him out for awhile and try to provide a deer for him until his eyesight is back to normal, plus he's not as steady as he once was!
So far my only problem is--- I'M OLD!

    HI SUE!

Morning again. Have just learned that my mother has died in AZ. She was almost 92.
She was a fiesty redhead who married & divorced 4 times. Her father was a WW1 US Army vet from VA who went to southern Canada after the war to grow tobacco & tomatoes.
In her final years she still ran an eBay store but had withered to 4' 10" tall.
If so inclined, please pray for Joy.

Robert, as one who has survived his mother ( and father and sister ) I understand your loss.

Time is a good healer but there will be times when you will have the urge to call her and remember that she cannot answer. Even knowing this it took me a couple of years to finally delete her phone number from my cell phone. Sometimes it is hard to let go, but we all need closure.

Focus on good memories be thankful for your years together.

Ken, I have to confess. This post caused my eyes to leak.

Grief and mourning are real even though I know she is in a better place.

When coach Paul "Bear" Bryant was at the University of Alabama he would do a commercial for Southern Bell ( before being absorbed by AT&T ) at the end of his 30 minute post game TV program.

He would say " Be sure and call your mama, I sure wish I could call mine ". I understand much better now what he meant than I did then.

    I got a story.

I used to call my mom a lot. I am on eastern time, she was on pacific.
One Sunday morning I call and she answers .... whispering .... "I can't talk now, I am in church." She loved me enough to answer and tell me.

For years I would joke with my wife early Sunday morning, I should call my mom. I joked with my mom, too. She loved it.

In an effort to cheer us up I am passing along a post I saw on another forum I frequent.
    Title : Pete died

Mrs. Pete Monaghan came into the newsroom to pay for her husband's obituary. She was told by the kindly newsman that it was a dollar a word. Apologizing that she only had two dollars, she wrote the obituary: "Pete died."

"I remember ol' Pete, and he deserves more than two words," said the newsman. "I'll give you three more for free."

The widow thanked him and wrote, "Pete died. Boat for sale."

No need for cheering up. Every time I remember my mom I am cheered up.
My dad passed away in '01, and I still think of calling him. I have things I still wanna learn from him.
