    Good morning. :hattip:

    Also, ragweed sucks!

We used to refer to:rasta: as the devil's weed but I'm pretty sure that ragweed is Satan's favorite flower.

From a retired EE and onetime Professional Home Inspector: Aluminum is a fine conductor of electricity. It has a better conductivity to weight ratio than copper (why power lines to your main disconnect are aluminum). Problem is older homes with aluminum wiring need to use outlets and switches that are compatible with aluminum. They're called CO/ALR (Copper/Aluminum Revised). They typically cost a bit more but are available at the big box stores.

Walker Fire is up to 24,000 acres now. At least not a threat to a population center. Saw and heard a couple bigger planes headed that way earlier.

FINALLY!!! Caught the bugger! On camera...

I have been telling people about the huge heron that has been feeding at our pond, and they all smile and nod and chuckle when I tell them it's enormous. Who's laughing now?

    https://youtu.be/136Lio0Py2I

The bird is standing in the pond in this video. Pond is about 2 feet deep.

That is one big well fed bird Dave. If he isn't a welcome guest, you might want to string some mono filament line crisscrossed over the pond about a foot over it. This might give him the notion he isn't welcome. This works with seagulls, and Canadian Geese quite well.

Dave: The monofilament line does work but is sort of a PITA to maintain. I used it for two years with success, I only had fish poached by the GBH one time. I have fancy gold fish and not KOI and this year I am hoping the GBH will thin out the fish population for me.

I have had a real big algae problem from August forward to today. I started cleaning the filter elements every 3 days but the pond is still a mess. I am going to use the pond vac this week.

We have a pond that is rather crude. We feed it with a little spring water overflow, underground water, and water from the creek.
The water from the creek, when it is flowing strong enough to spray keeps the algae down. Can you aerate the water?

    Dave:
I have an aeration system and a waterfall. The pond is in direct sunlight nowadays. When we first installed the pond there were spruce trees providing shade in the morning. The electric company removed the trees because they were growing up into the power lines and affecting service. When we were on vacation the pond water pump became clogged and my son did not notice, even though he fed the fish every day. Cleaning the filter elements is the dirtiest job I have to do. LOL

How is Tom doing? On vacation trying to enjoy it but still a few aches from the accident. I will go to the doctors when I get home just to make sure there isn't more than initially seen. This was supposed to be a diving vacation, but so far it's been a sit on the beach vacation. Don't want to take a chance having issues. When is your next trip?

    Good morning crew,
Kalifornia is at it again. Proposed law to confiscate weapons. Teachers, employers, fellow employees can report you as being unstable, causing your guns to be taken while you are investigated. I can see LE being over whelmed with the process and guns maybe having to be registered or taken and not returned. Have a good day.
Headed to a couple ghost towns with a couple other Coleman Collectors for a couple days tomorrow.

Rain on and off last couple days, but much needed so

Is it possible to plant some trees with shorter profile that would still provide shade. :notsure: Just the thought that occurred to me.

    Very cool.

:sorry: Ken ... there's my gut thought proving itself accurate again. Kristi is always telling me to trust my instincts. Hope the aches and pain are easily recoverable.
    :fingerscrossed:

    I got nothing.

Enjoy your ghost town adventures. :)
