Could not do that. I worked for a HMO that managed substance abuse and alachol benefits. Basically I managed a suicide hotlone with close to 3000 toll free numbers.

Makes me recall the last Summer before I retired from active duty. About May I turned management of the op center over to the other two Senior NCOs in the office and just worked a Sr Controller position on shift until my terminal leave started. In June the three of us went on a fishing charter together where we stayed at a B&B the night before. 3AM my cell phone rings...answer and it's the op ctr notifying and requesting guidance for a forklift fire in the freight warehouse. After giving guidance, I asked why they called me instead of the other two..."we tried them first, but they didn't answer, we knew you would."

After I fully retired, I took great pleasure in randomly leaving my cell phone on the dresser turned off...often for days at a time. :)

    Good Morning All .
Speaking of phone calls, When I was planning on retiring, I gave my manager (I use that title very loosely as he is a complete asswipe) 3 months notice and he didn't believe I was going. I asked him to allow someone to learn my various jobs so that when I was gone someone would know what was going on. But alas the asswipe didn't and several techs asked if they could still contact me for assistance. I kept the company phone for a year and would take calls if I was available or felt like answering them. I still stop in from time to time to see how things are going and after all this time(4 1/2 years) asswipe is still manager and nothing has changed. And he wanted to know why I retired when I did. :annoyed:like I said a complete idiot that couldn't figure it out:confused:.

More people retire or change jobs because of an asswipe manager than money, as far as I can tell.

A lot of truth in that. At 61.5 my current and previous boss were and are very cool to the Sr. folk. If he was a shit bag I'd be gone.

Was in a position I loved.
Five bosses changed in 2 years.

Last one simply invites everyone to a conference call and launches into the New Plan. Didn't pause for almost an hour. Finally ask if there are any questions.
    I spoke up and asked
Are you my new boss? He replies yes, didn't you read the announcement? I replied, didn't see one. He goes thru his e mails, realised it is in his draft folder not sent folder.

We had issues from that moment forward.
Always in my way, reminding me he has TWO degrees. And generally actually like he was smarter than anyone else.
During a team call a year later, he asks if anyone has anything else to discuss. I mentioned that those who mean the new offer parameters should give serious consideration to it .

Then I casually mentioned that I had put my paperwork in and would be on terminal vacation in two days.

    He about sh*t hisself.

I laughed for the next six weeks as he tried to get me to answer his calls. Wanted me to extend six weeks to train my replacement.
    I simply replied....
A guy with TWO degrees should be able to easily train him.

I think I was the/a token male at my last job. Originally worked there with about 18 or 19 women. After the economy down sizing where half the team was let go over a six month period, I was still there. Let go folks had less seniority than I had, maybe my work ethic was better as they had much better puter skills than I did. Most were over half my age too. Just glad I made it to retire on my terms.

I had a boss tell me that "Nice Guys Finish Last". I looked him in the eye & said "We'll See". I'm still not finished & I'm certainly not last. Didn't go through life being a dick either!

At our major call centers we had multiple T-3's carrying voice and data traffic. Satellite does not work too well for voice. The delays are noticeable. This might have changed with newer technologies.

    Good morning Susan and gang,
Leaf season, got my blower out to corral the leaves two afternoons in a row. Still takes over half an hour to blow and wheel Barrow to my compost pile.
We get to go to another Agility class for Repo today, the dogs sure have fun.
Found a correct valve for a rare lantern I picked up a few weeks ago, so happy about that, can't tell from looking at it once installed. Originally wanted to keep my lantern count under 20 as I was more interested in stoves. Then it got to be under 30, then 40. Come on 50!
Located in Great Britain yesterday morning off of evilbay, a small stove I didn't have for a later year, it was only from '61, but fills in a hole for that model stove from '57 to '62 when they were no longer dated after '62. Need a '57, '58 and '60 now. Some sellers won't respond to questions or won't ship to the USA so takes longer to acquire one. 41 now with different dates going back to 1912.

 morning all. Make it a good day

Run your lawn mower over them first. "Supposed" to help them break down faster, plus take up less room. :D. already done my first leaf pickup session. Good luck finding the stoves you want.

I hired a guy. It's overwhelming here. Well worth the $ v 20+ hours week of my time.

I use the lawnmower a little, but it leaves chewed up leaves behind and fills the bag if I use that. I throw the leaves as is on my pile which is at one end of my garden area. If I had a big riding mower, then I think would just use it to bag the leaves.

I do this first without the bag and it lets me keep chopping. It does make a big pile much smaller. I then use the bag and pile the chopped leaves next to the bins to add to my compost as I add the kitchen scraps. Green + Brown = Compost. The leaves I chop in fall will last until next fall.
I do this, too. :) Way too big a yard to hand mow.

I hoover 'em up with the mower. I'm dealing with leaves from early September through the end of November. No way am I going to fuss over them.
