    Morning all .
Sounds like you have your sights on the right road Tom. Years ago I purchased a GoPro to take videos while diving. It worked quite well so I started using it to video above the water. Problem I had was you could see every step I took by the bounce in the video. Searched around and found the Kaiaer Baas XS3 gimbal fit my budget ($99) for an entry level gimbal. It can be used with a smart phone or GoPro. Only issue I have is it isnt water resistant so in a down pour I cant use it. Drizzle okay no problem. I will in the near future upgrade to a better gimbal that is water resistant or proof. My big issue is having the patience to sit at the computer and edit the videos. But in due time....enjoy the video taking and the gimbal.

Yes they are. The phones are better mainly due to multiple lenses on the camera of the phones. I have a Samsung S10 Plus. There are three rear lenses and two selfie lenses. The iPhone arguably has a better camera set up, more controls allowed by the user right out of the box, but I went with the Samsung for the additional micro SD slot that supports up to 512 a Gb card.

All manufactures are developing phones that meet the needs of the customer base. The kids today use their phone to take a pic, edit the pic and place it on Instagram in a matter of minutes. All of the high end cell phones do this really well and quickly. The S10+ has a photo shooting mode called Instagram. You take the pic and it will post it to your account on Instagram with a tap on the cell phone screen. I am pretty sure iPhone will do the same.

Nice phone Rob. The S10+ is my fourth Galaxy phone. I upgraded from a S5. My wife had my old S4 but she now has a S10+. I offered to get her an iPhone, she has an iPad, but she declined the offer. The sales rep at the Verizon store had a decent day when I came into the store September 30th.

    :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::thumbsup:

I have the same editing fears also Ken, which I did not want to waste a lot of money only to find out I really do not like the editing part. What software do you use to edit your movies?

Hi Tom, I have been using the GoPro quick, bit there is a lot of others put there. I would go on some video editing sites and see which one you would feel comfortable with.
Another heads up Tom, it was so cold with the wind chill today my goal started doing some weird stuff. Jad to turn it off and reboot it. First time that happened. Practice and enjoy.

Ken: Today was relay busy for me. Meals on Wheels in the AM and off to my cousins home at mid day, back home cooking dinner now. I was able to install Filmic Pro and connect to the Gimbal with some initial testing. Overcast and rain today so not much of a chance to get outside and practice setting everything up and taking videos. Actually it would have been a lot of photo ops today with the moving of heavy equipment in the neighborhood. The city is replacing the old water main and today they started to rip out the old water main pipe. The last 6 weeks has seen a temporary water main installed and connected to the homes. These guys are working quickly.

Good morning all. It is now 12:15 in the AM here and we just got in from a trip to see the northern lights. 30* and 20 to 30 mph gusts of wind but got some shots...:yay: Not the best but I'm not a photographer. 20191022_185318.jpg 20191022_184912.jpg

:woot: So happy for you both. Don't worry about the pictures. The pictures never do the actual experience justice when it comes to northern lights...IMHO. :)

Thanks Rob. I will try to lighten them up also they will be more visible.
Were taken to the "geyser" ( big tourist attraction. It sure can't even come close to Old Faithful in Yellowstone.

This one is the most popular. I can't even pronounce the name let alone spell it:). All in all the country is barren in the south and more mountainous in the north..

There is a tour where you can go to the glaciers and do some off roading. I didnt take the tour but the transportation to the glacier is pretty cool.20191022_075509.jpg 20191022_075520.jpg

Unfortunately not Rob. Running for the tour bus(biggest problem of tours) and didnt have a chance. It was about the size of a mini bus. Pretty neat.

We went to the Blue Lagoon today. Thought it was a big tourist trap but spending 2 hours in a warm geo-thermal pool was the best. Relaxed me so much I dozed off on the 40 minute bus ride back to the hotel.20191023_083238.jpg 20191023_083251.jpg 20191023_083322.jpg

Very cool...having seen northern lights here many times before, this might be my favorite of your trip so far. How big is the lagoon? And is it all naturally formed?

Hi Rob. The lagoon is man made into the lava rock. It is fed from a thermal spring and it was amazing. I would say it is about 3/4 of an acre in size and at it's deepest 3 1/2 feet. It is rather expensive to go and they recommend reservations but our trip was included in the tour. We didn't go to any glaciers (saw some) which I thought would be different. Maybe another trip.20191021_094119.jpgYou can see a glacier to the left in the picture.

Thanks for the offer. maybe next year. Oh while I'm thinking about it they do have fishing in the rivers here. Mainly salmon and some other fish she told me but CRS has gotten the best of me...
