2019 was the fewest miles I had ever driven any of my three Tacomas, in a single year: 5,496.
I changed the oil once, when it was about 8,000-9,000 miles since the previous change, using Castrol GTX/ High Mileage formula, synthetic. I switched from real oil to the synthetic a few years ago and it seems to like it? Back in the day of 'mucho' business (I am self-employed), I could easily put on 40,000 miles in one year. I also traveled to Baja, a lot. This past year, I went to Baja just twice and both times, riding in someone else's vehicle. My business (irrigation) also about died, so not much driving for it. I make a few dollars writing, selling books, and guide tv show crews plus I recently started taking early social security. I hope to learn how to prospect for gold this year... the other incomes are not enough!

Reports were: you started, farted, stumbled and fell.

Another old stove turns 100 this year. Date code is a "J" which is from 1920. Small celebration last night for this Primus 96, the latest hitting 100. Did I mention I collect stoves and lanterns? :)

I've used a MSR stove a couple times when out and it has been snowing lightly. The stove is about the last thing I pack up, shutting it down just before walking home, nice hand warmer(needed for my cold hands), it needs five minutes or more to cool enough to where it won't melt my pack or other gear.

    Good morning Susan, gang,
Stoked today, located the two earliest versions of the little stoves I collect. Like the ones above that I posted a couple days ago. Fingers crossed they make it across the Atlantic. These are dated, so very collectible. Going thru a stovie friend in the UK for the first one to ship to me.

Great having a hobby that still gets your blood pumping Duane! I’ve been messing around with old radios. Some are junk, but others are still in working condition.l forgot about AM radio :).l take the ones that are not reparable and use them with a Bluetooth speaker inside.Always flips friends out when they come in the garage and try to figure out where the music is coming from.l have given some of those away. The good ones either go on the shelf or resold.
Love to see some pictures of those lamps when you finally get them!

I have the old 6 transistor Republic radio my parents gave me one Christmas back in the early 60's. My grandmother was going to throw out the old Philco radio I always saw in their house growing up so I kept it. It sits in my living room keeping dust off furniture.
I've been collecting stoves for nine years now I think. Lanterns around seven years.

    Hey Rob III. :)

I've had a 'fun' day running network cable, crawling around roof trusses, and generally wearing myself out. I rent some garage space from my neighbor, and the building is pretty far from the house. The guy who put it up didn't run any low voltage wiring (phone/network), and we live in an area with very low cell signal, so the garage was pretty much blind connectivity wise. About a year ago I bought an outdoor WIFI access point with the intention of putting it up outside and pointing it at the garage; but when I tested the idea I realized I was going to have to mount the gizmo in a place where there was no ethernet. Which meant running ethernet. And power.

So I kinda sorta bagged the idea. :anonymous:

But now we have the new garage building! With ethernet! And a nice view out to the neighbor's garage! So today I did all of the stuff necessary to mount the outdoor WIFI AP, get power and ethernet to it, and get it all configured. It took all day but it works great. And I'm pooped.

Good morning, everyone!! I've been delinquent again...as usual. Under the 6 month mark until I retire from the college...this year is just blasting by. I'm in the window to sign up for Medicare now, too. How the hell did that happen??!!!

The latest news from Mighty Mortgage Manor is that I'm about to move from a Gen 1 Tacoma owner to a Gen 3. We need to shed a vehicle as I retire and Lynn's Outback is now 9 years old...and the Tacoma is 15, although just over 41k miles. I had planned on getting rid of Lynn's Outback and giving her my 2019 Outback - she loves it and hates to buy new vehicles. We also figured that I'd sell or trade the old Tacoma for a new one and that would be my daily driver. As we were talking our finances the other day, Lynn said.."There's really no reason to wait. I know you really want the Army Green TRD Pro, so get it ordered." Woo Hoo!!!

I have a friend who is a GM at a dealership and I'd talked to him back in November about one but telling him I'd want to take delivery in May or June. He reminded me that the Army Green Pro was limited in numbers and he would probably not get more than one or two allocated. I figured if it was meant to be, it was meant to be. Otherwise I'd get another color.

I texted my friend after Lynn gave the go ahead to tell him I was ready to order the new truck. He called a bit later and told me that he had put in an order for an Army Green Pro after we'd talked in November. He figured if I didn't want it, he'd have no problem selling it. It is due to go into production on 1/22/20 with delivery in mid-February!! I'm excited!!

Working on selling or trading the Gen 1. I know I'll make more on a private sale, but..... we'll see. I have a few local people who have expressed interest .

    Happy Days!!

Congratulations on the new Taco! As for the Gen 1 you want to sell, you might take a look at bringatrailer.com. It's an auction site for car enthusiasts. Tacos bring a good price there, and the mileage on yours could make it very attractive to those folks.
