We need pics of the dive...

No diving this trip Mike. Or did you mean the dive where I'll be watching the Super Bowl? Just beach time here. 20200119_164635.jpg This was last week when the weather was bad. Here are some dive pictures from Bali last year.

I’m not one for travel per say.
Went to fla a few times.
I road trip when we go racing.
    But I’m a home body.
Not a recluse by any stretch.
    But just like being home.

Planning on doing the whole photo/video package, my friend!

It sounds to me like you found the perfect profession, Mike. You found something you love(ed), that you were good at and that fulfilled you. We've spent decades telling kids they needed to go to college to be successful and happy. What a mistake for all those people who, like you, could have found their life's calling without spending time and money getting an education that wasn't what they really wanted. I truly admire people like you who went where their hearts, and hands, took them.

Perhaps it is our aging, but it does seem that our society values the simplicity of turning control of our lives and appliances over to a computer chip. I watched and bucked as the military went in that direction buying the line that computers and remote systems could replace boots on the ground...only to see the reality as we continue to see where the boots on the ground are absolutely crucial to both understand what is happening as well as directing the use of the technologies in real time. It was one of the reasons that led me to retire from the Army, as well. No regrets. It was the right time to go.

As Ken noted, only you and your wife can decide when that time is right. But, you have an amazing skill set that will allow you to keep engaged in your profession when and how you want. That, my friend, seems like a true winner!!!

You also enjoy fishing, hunting, tinkering with cars, etc. All good hobbies and relaxing. Nothing wrong with being home. I hate when people tell you "oh you should Do this or you should Do that". They do what fits their life style and I do what fits mine and I'm sure you'll do what fits yours and enjoy it.:D

So much emotion here. I respect you deeply, and wish you and Carol all the best. You deserve to be happy, and I pray you find it. Sorry, not sure my words here capture my thoughts. I appreciate you, Mike.

My slowing down on the accounts that l work has helped my attitude.l have cut down on some of them (car dealers and sales depts) cause they always have been azz holes to work with,it’s just now my patience is running out. They fuss about how much l charge, but then add 40% on to my bill for writing a PO.
    And complain they aren’t making a dime....bs

Morning all - and Happy F'n Monday for those of us still slogging to work. We had maybe 2 inches of snow and then some rain. It is wet, heavy heart attack snow. I shoveled the spot in front of the house that doesn't get winter sun but since the temps are supposed to be in the 40s the next few days, I'll let nature clear the rest.

Hoping this week brings me a new truck!

No illnesses yet. Wife works at a hospital and has a immune system of a rock, she never gets anything and somewhat I'm the same.........maybe every couple years a medium cold. I've not had the true flu in 28 years (I remember where we lived when I had it with fever and the whole bit). Raising kids in public schools also helps build immunity to colds, and as for flu, yes I get the free shot at work.

Laying tile today. My artistic side will be maxed out.

My take on you folks with college and further degrees then not going into those professions. You can adapt, the degree shows you were smart enough to get it, adapting to a new field just takes learning nomenclature related to that field.
I also ran numbers to see where early retirement intersected SSI taken later. Numbers hit around 82 I believe.
I'm sure I mentioned, a couple ladies where I worked were still working at 70 to pay for insurance, one lady finally retired at around 80 because her kids were still in the house!

    @hikerduane Thanks for the welcome!

We try to get out at least once a month for a hike or to camp. I was a bit surprised when my wife suggested we winter camp after coming back from our showshoeing trip. I would like to make at least one winter camping trip before spring. We'll see what happens.

Keep enjoying the hiking and camping.

I was out mid week last week bped from my yard a few miles up the FS roads, low of 28 was all, 17 here this AM.
Not much snow to camp on the last few years, the walk up last week had some of the road covered with snow.
I have family in Grand Junction, Denver area.
