Good morning Susan, fellow backpackers, gangsters,
Waiting for the snow to melt off, have no idea yet if I'll have a garden this year, just not much motivation to do some stuff, only think I'll plant some greens and such, dang gophers sure make it discouraging to plant more things.

:pccoffee:  Hi there 60's, n00bs, Rob, Susan. I'm prepping for a shopping run today for us and my parents. My dad insists on getting certain items at WalMart so I am going to have to brave that scene. He was going to use the order-ahead-and-pick-it-up feature but he had trouble figuring out how to do it. I can't help him because I can't go in to see him! Plus he was getting notification that his order would be ready for pickup in 2 days, which won't do. So I'm heading in, with my clorox wipe (I put one in a baggie and keep it with me) and hand sanitizer.

I also made a Costco run yesterday. Very impressive what they are doing there. They limit the number of people in the store at one time, they wipe down the cart handle for you, they separate people at the checkout and wipe everything there for each customer, and nobody touches anything they don't absolutely have to touch. First class care for the customer AND the employee if you ask me. They even had a person wiping down the gas pump handles. Oh and the parking lot was probably ~30% of what it usually is on a Friday.

Good Morning Folks. I have been going out for walks around my neighborhood because of the nice weather. A lot of neighbors are doing the same (getting tired of being house bound I guess) thing but all are keeping a safe distance from each other. Take care and stay safe folks. Hopefully we can all get through this unscathed .

Pool cues also work and only leave little blue dots. ;)

:pccoffee:  I'm itching to go out to the garage and put the transmission back in my project car, but I am only halfway set up in the new garage which means half the stuff I will inevitably need is still in the house. o_O Lots of trips back and forth. It's raining pretty steadily here so I guess I'll wait it out.

We're in the 'stay at home' part of the state as of 8PM last night. I can't really see how it will change our current routine; we've been staying home already and only going out when we need something. Maybe "need something" will change over time, but hopefully we will be out of this before that happens!

Stay safe, stay well, stay in touch. I'm glad to have this forum.

To anyone in the mid-west. With all of the virus going on you don't need this...stay safe.
    Per NOAA:
NOAA's Storm Prediction Center cautioned Saturday morning that "a significant severe weather outbreak is expected for portions of the Midwest this afternoon and evening. Threats include tornadoes, a few which may be significant, large to very large hail, and severe wind gusts."

    Good morning Susan, gang,
Have to wait today for my tax people to open at 10, hate to venture into Safeway for a few things, maybe they will have paper towels and eggs this trip. Can shop first before dropping off my papers.
Got a stove model I collect finally yesterday, should have gotten it 8 days ago. Thanks USPS for giving me something to worry about, it was made in 1921.

Morning Duane! I've had good luck buying eggs from local people who have chickens. A little more expensive than the food store eggs but tastier too. Speaking of USPS, one of the postal workers in the office that delivers our mail has tested positive for CV-19.

I have a couple people I know close by who have chickens, don't know if they would sell me half a dozen eggs at a time. Will check stores first, not feasible for me to raise chickens anymore since I camp and backpack so much.

My wife and I are in the vulnerable over 60 group like everyone here so we are trying our best to avoid close contact with people. We are fortunate in that we usually stay way stocked up on things like toilet paper, kleenix, paper towels etc. we buy that at Costco and generally have a 3 month plus supply on hand. I’m an avid hunter and fisherman and have a freezer full of duck, pheasant and fish. My wife has always kept large quantities of hand wipes and Clorox wipes on hand.
We now go food shopping once every 2 weeks and we go between 6 and 8 am when our local store has senior shopping. Us seniors are generally polite and maintain the 6’ social distance. We get some fresh produce but get a lot of frozen Vegs since they last. When we get home we wipe all the packages down with Clorox wipes and throw the bags away. I go to a butcher shop once every two weeks for neat and poultry. There are few people ever
there, great selection and reasonably priced. Other than walking the dog several times a day we don’t much leave the property.
Ordering things via the net is our friend to avoid going out. We have a dog, Sprig the Labrador and Copper the cat. I just ordered 3 months of food and pet supply’s for them from Chewy.com. Arrived in a couple days so now I don’t have to venture out to the feed store.
Amazon is also our friend, have ordered lots of things. Our local Costco has a private delivery service. You can order from the store and it will be delivered that day. It costs extra but well worth it.
With rare exceptions food and meat shopping is our only exposure to groups of people.
The other thing we do is wash our hands about a million times a day.
The thing is if you use your head and plan you can greatly avoid people and minimize any exposure to the virus. Oh yeh and an occasional glass of Woodford Reserve whiskey fortifies me and keeps my spirits up. Stay healthy and be well all.

Thanks for posting the video Susan. It was very informative and I will definitely be looking at how I have been handling food in the house.
