    Good morning Susan, gang,
Keep falling asleep watching TV (after 5PM no daytime TV), so sleep in sometimes to get some sleep back as I take awhile to then fall back asleep when I do go to bed. Expecting rain later, forecast 10" or more of snow thru Monday morning.
Got a letter from Social Services yesterday, denying a Medi-Cal claim. Never applied. Called the case worker, left a message, no reply back. Hope no ID theft, maybe my Chiropractor filed incorrectly instead of Medicare?

I just finished getting my lawn mower ready for the season. What a PITA. It's an Ariens Ikon 'zero turn' and they must have fired the engineering staff or something. The oil drain is a plastic affair in a VERY difficult location; you attach a little plastic tube to it, open it, and wait about 6 months for the damn oil to drain out. The tube is too short to get out from under the machine so I had to find a piece to extend it. After waiting an age I figured out a way to pressurize the crankcase and speed up the process. But at the end of the day the process simply should not be that hard. A little bit of thought put into the engine mounting area could have created a nice trough for the oil to run down to an accessible location where a catch pan could be put. SMH.

Then there is the matter of the blades. On my old tractor I'd just pull the deck out from under it and service everything. Not possible with this monster. I rigged up a comealong to the rafters and yanked the thing up in the air to get at them. Not the end of the world, nor was the oil change, but I have never seen a machine with less thought put into routine servicing. Awful.

Rant over. A neighbor sewed up some cloth masks and I've been using one when I do my shopping runs. Now of course my wife wants me to put it in the laundry every time I come home! I just can't win.

Stay safe people, but more importantly stay sane. I have a feeling us oldsters are going to be kept out of the general population for quite some time to come. Find some things to do that make you smile, make you happy. Definitely not changing the oil on an Ariens Ikon! :)

Just read a story on the online version of our local rag, a third case of the virus has been found, a different part of the county.

Lynn made a mask for me out of camouflage material and is finishing hers up now. Who would have ever thought?

I finally got the MESO Stage 1 Total Tail Light kit to work in my truck. Stew made up two new harnesses using another diode and it worked. Finally!!

    Be safe everyone!!!

    Evening all:
Hi Sue ! Glad you posted that about using shop towels as filters.
Make a cotton mask with a filter pocket to insert a shop towel as a filter, then remove the filter and wash the mask and insert a new filter. ????

Just made a somewhat must trip to Walmart for some fabric, first associate went to call someone, second associate came with no idea how to put it in the computer, third associate came with no idea either, fourth one came without knowing how to do it, finally the fifth one came who knew how to do it. Now that's just what I needed, stand there for 20-30 minutes waiting in a store full of shoppers from everywhere, bunch of jersey plates in the parking lot and plenty of people speaking Spanish, definitely not locals! :(
Seeing MANY people with masks on, probably half of them may as well not even have a mask on because of the way they fit and offer little to no protection.

Don't feel lonely Dave, Scag must have used the same engineers as Ariens, what a PITB to change oil on Mine. I use a floor jack under the front of the deck to lift it up in order to sharpen or change blades, just need to live with it I guess.

Duane, that's how it started in the county I live in, 1, then 3, then 7, then 13, I think we're at 46 right now, stay safe. All the counties around us have hundreds of cases, it was just a matter of time.
I wasn't too worried with the relative low numbers, now I'm getting a little more cautious as they rise, that's why I figured it was time to make up a few masks for when I need to go get stuff.

Appreciate the post Dave. I have considered the Ariens Ikon with Kawasaki engine zero turn mower. Think I will scratch this one from consideration now.

Hi Carl. I don't know if the shop towels will really help, but, if it does..... Does makes sense to me. Had been pretty much thinking how much could some of the material actually stop from going through. Have added a shop towel to my mask.

Man I think you hexed me...mower wouldn't start. I have never taken the carb off a Honda OHC mower engine. 3 gaskets. And like 9 interfaces. Of course I had none. I jerry rigged it. SOB started right up and ran like a champ. 20+years old now

Shop towels, cardboard...I'm willing to try just about anything to keep safe at this point. Bring out the chicken blood!!!

Lynn made these masks for us yesterday. We FaceTimed with my sister and brother-in-law and decided to wear them when we started the call. Just before we did I grabbed my phone to take a selfie. Two lessons learned. First, Facial Recognition software doesn't work when you are wearing a mask. And, 2 telling someone to "Smile" when they are wearing a mask will cause you both to break up in laughter.

I think I mentioned that we had a wedding to attend in Detroit next month. Well it's been postponed until 12/31!
We were planning on driving there next month. Now with it being rescheduled and especially in December I don't know what we're going to do. I think either flying or driving may be tricky due to weather.
It should be interesting to see if and how much the hotel prices change!
I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Looks like the infection rate is really flattening in King County WA, plus fatalities are plunging. AND same 7 cases in my zip code and still no deaths. THIS will be the same the rest of the country IF you take the precautions and get that slope, the rate of increase down down down.

There is a lot of conflicting information out now. A doctor was on the local TV saying masks will not protect the user from the virus du jour. All they will do is protect others from the wearer if the wearer is infected.
