If anything, it sort of prevents the user from touching their face.

Ken, I have one of those canister mask for running the lawn mower when pollen count is high which is from about Feb. through November here.

I have some of the commercial surgical masks but not too many so I will wear one when leaving home then spray it with Lysol when I return. Then let it sit for a few days while wearing others repeating the spray, store protocol hoping any virus will be dead by the time I reuse one.

May not work but likely will not do any harm.

My daughter, love that kid, brought over 2 masks for me and the missus. I guess I'm going to be doing the Lysol routine on these as well. I just hope everyone stays safe and this Covid-19 fades off into the sunset. It's a big adjustment to everyone's lifestyle and hopefully we all will survive. Stay healthy Gary and err on the side of caution. Be safe.

Last summer I bought a Scag Liberty Z 36in. ZTR. For my yard it is a great size the next size up in this model is a 48. I had a 20 y/old Ariens that still cut, but stuff on it was always failing -kinda like a car with 200K on it. Scag makes a incredibly well built machine even in their residential machines -- even come with a bumper-bumper 5 year warranty. they put the same quality parts in their lower priced models as their high end commercial ones. They are not the cheapest, but I feel they are worth the extra bucks -and they give veterans discounts.

I cut about 7 acres weekly from April - October and then use my mowers to mulch and pick up leaves in November.

I have 2 Husqvarnas - the tractor has a 27hp engine with a 52" deck and the Zero Turn has a 30hp engine with a 61" deck. Both run Briggs and Stratton engines. The tractor is now 8 years old and the Zero Turn is 7. I bought them through a local dealer - not through a Big Box Store - and he services them each spring. If I have an issue I know I can call the shop and he'll be there to repair it. Other than a few lawn vacuum belts for the tractor, it's basically just been oil/filter changes and having the blades sharpened each year. I'm sold on the quality of the Husqvarnas.

Wow -7 acres -- you really need some good and large equipment to do that. Do you enjoy that much yard? That's a big task every week, even with the speed and maneuverability of a ZTR

I actually do enjoy it. With the Zero Turn it takes me about 3 hours to cut - and another 1/2 hour to an hour to pick up clippings with the tractor, especially in the spring. I'm actually cutting around our house, the old farmhouse on our property where my mother-in-law lives and around our lake, etc. More than I need to but I love putting on my headphones and just enjoying the time when I can zone out the world and focus on cutting grass.

Sounds like you enjoy the task , besides "riding herd" on all that land is probably easier than commandeering a bunch of "GI"s

The folks I bought the Ariens from use a pump to suck the oil out and have a cool jack for getting at the underside. They’re pros. I suspect that all of the zero turns are challenging to service at home. But I’m stubborn.

The Ariens is a sturdy unit. Heavy gauge steel everywhere, fabricated deck, sturdy construction. Just a dumb oil drain location.

I mowed the yard today, first time this year. Mostly debris pickup.

Speaking of grass cutting. If you remember I hired the 14 y/o next door to do it.
Well I saw him yesterday and said, ok Ben let's discuss your price.
Let's say that you start at $50 and counter at $10. He looked me straight in the eyes and said $9.
My God I almost fell over...it was hilarious!!
No, Ben you're supposed to go higher!!

Morning, all!!! Beginning the prep to make a grocery run tomorrow. Lynn's Mom needs a few things so we'll pick up some stuff, too, while we're out. Masks? Check! Gloves? Check!

I don't do gloves, not sure if I would even if I had a supply. I use a mask when I go in a place, hand sanitizer when I come out. I carry a disinfectant wipe in a ziplock bag and re-use on cart handles and whatnot. One wipe easily lasts an entire outing. When I get home I wash my hands very thoroughly. So far so good, knock wood!

EDIT: And most of all I keep saying to myself over and over, "DO NOT TOUCH YOUR FACE!" :)

    Evening all:
HEMI, HEMI, HEMI, most people don't realize that those 426 Max Wedges were faster than the stock street Hemi. I think one year the Dodge had 13-1 compression, and the rest had 12-1, those things were flat out nasty and barely streetable!

:annoyed: Almost missed the first day of trout! :(
We had 2 openers in pa, Apr 4th and Apr 18, then they cancelled the southern one on the 4th and there would be only one on the 18th.
Yesterday Jim called me around 11:00 and said someone e mailed him that trout season opened that morning, HUH! Looked it up on the computer, yup, they decided to open it up on a Tuesday, one link even stated "SURPRISE, trout season opened at 8:00 this morning"!
SO, we figured we could leave at 1:00 for the first day of trout, ended up with both Jim and I getting our limit of 5 and his GF got 3.
