Cheers, haven't partaken just yet but will shortly. Getting ready to grill steaks - in between thunder-boomers. Feel sorry for the neighbor, they were having a party when all of a sudden the sky came crashing down - hail, hard rain, high wind and the temp dropped 22 degrees. They are living in a RV as they build their house (going on four years now - this is for another day). We are supposed to get rain through the rest of the day and well into the night.

Hope everyone is enjoying their celebration.

Good morning, everyone!!! Was hoping to crew a flight with the hot air balloon company we work with...but got fogged out.

Lots of fireworks all around us - dogs were not at all phased this year and just slept through it. I did not appreciate the a**hole across the valley who decided to start lighting them off at midnight and kept it up intermittently for 30 minutes.

    Enjoy the day!!!

My wife said that the fireworks were "out of control " last night.
Of course I didn't hear them. I sleep like a log. She on the other hand sleeps like a cat...which I suppose is good.

Beautiful bike, Harry! Sorry to see it go but I understand the reasons - as much as I loved to ride I won't get back on one again.

    Good Morning folks :hattip:.
Sorry you didn't get to crew Mark.
Glad your dogs weren't phased by the fireworks, my Grand dog was scared and spent most of the night in our laundry room which is in the center of the house. I was worried he might have an accident in the house:fingerscrossed: because he wouldn't even go near the door to go out. But he made it through the night and couldn't wait to get out this morning . Most fireworks ended close to 1AM and it was quiet the rest of the night here.
Weather is going to be hot the next few days here in Eastern PA so be carefu and drink plenty of water(save the adult beverages for relaxing on the porch:D). Be safe and have a good day.

Good morning all, didn't see any fireworks last night - Springs locations were to far away from the Peak for us to see. There was a neighbor that decided to fire off a few rounds at midnight that got us all up and the dogs barking but they didn't last long.

Beautiful morning but we are in for another round of afternoon thunder-boomers and hail. Won't get a whole lot done outside today, they called for a 1400 start yesterday but it rolled in fast and hard at 1324, I know because I was scrambling to get everything inside including the dogs.

    Have a safe day.

 folks, congratulations on surviving another holiday!
Hot and muggy too! I just got back from my walk; felt fine while I was out there but now that I'm sitting still I'm getting a bit damp. Not too bad though.

    Welcome, Mike!!

The retirement concept is slowly sinking in- realized today that I don't have to check in at the college tomorrow...I'm on my own. SSA finally approved my application to start drawing the SS payment effective July 1. Lynn and I use that for trips and extras.

Warm here - hit 90 but I love this weather. No AC in the house. It was 57 degrees this AM.

Hot here in OH foothills also, but low humidity which helps a bit. I start outside work early, try to quit by noon, which also helps. Dr. appt. 6 month checkup this morning, an actual face to face w/masks. Glad to see that return... and got our 1st. shingles vaccine, finally.

You hit the nail on the head, Everyone's situation is different. Run the numbers and see if it makes sense to retire. When I ran my numbers I would have to live past 100 to make up the difference from retiring at 62 or waiting till 66. Best decision I had made in a long time.

We just made the same decision with my wife's pension from EDS. The offered a lump sum last month and we filed the paperwork for the lump sum. I have kept all the pension statements since she was let go, over 20 years ago, and it was hard to calculate the total worth of the retirement. The options were many and confusing for the distribution of funds monthly so once the lump sum was offered we analyzed the our choices and made the decision to take the payout and roll it over into her IRA. The lump sum was worth quite a bit more than I thought it would be.

You too Mark. Today we rent a post hole digger to set posts for a little privacy/wind screen for my outdoor cooking area. Called 3 contractors for an estimate and 2 said the job was too small, the third wanted $1500 to $2000. Picked up the shadowbox panel from HD and 2 4x4x12 posts from Lowes on Saturday. All the wood is stained and ready to install. So far my costs are at $120 including the stain. One of the shortages America is facing right now if the availability of wood.

Yes it is. The worst part is it takes longer to do things but the good news is you have the time to do things in.

We were out at 5:15 to crew a hot air balloon flight for the pilots we crew for. It was a good chance to give pilots and crew a workout before we restart flying passengers at some point soon. And, I absolutely love this truck!! Another hot day coming - time to relax and enjoy the pool again.

Mark, watching a hot air balloon soaring overhead on a clear day is a beautiful sight. Hope they start with passengers soon so people can see and enjoy the beauty from above.
Have a great day all and stay cool with the heat. Be sage.

Devious 6 , how long does it take for the burner to cool off in a descent for a landing so not to burn the riging nor the envelope ?
