Gonna be 100 here in Elk Grove California but no humidity (which is a good thing). Triple digits is the dividing line for me. 100 and above is just too darn hot to be outside for me, even to be in the pool. 90’s I’m good with. Although I have
spent a good deal of time outside in 100+ degree heat. Did all my outdoor chores this morning so now for the rest of the day I’m kicking back with a couple good books and reading (I’m a voracious reader, love to read). The reason I’m doing that is because I’m retired, it’s Saturday again today and I can. And since tomorrow is Saturday again I may do the same thing.
Have a good one all, be safe.

    Afternoon all:

:angrygirl::::::: You call that work! :D
Someone needs to contribute to SS so us poor old guys can eat, and also buy a new Tacoma once in awhile! :D :anonymous:

    Sue!

Just was looking at something, a wells VR715 electronic voltage regulator, been doing a lot of reading about them as a replacement for the mechanical VR for the "66" Chevy, seems like a lot of guys switched to that VR and are well satisfied.
Almost every time they mentioned a price it was in the 12-$15 range, now they are $55, guess the company found out that there was a demand for them for the older GM cars! :annoyed: :(

I switched over to an internal VR Alternator several years back on my '72 Chebby.
Think I have a few OEM types still kicking around.

Good morning, all!! It's that day of the week where people have to go back to work...except for us retirees!! I cut the grass around the house yesterday - will cut the rest today and then head to the pool again. Life is good!!!

Good Morning folks. Lantern flies are starting to swarm in our neighborhood. I was out yesterday spraying them down with vinegar and it does seem to work. Also sprayed all the mulch around my gardens with vinegar to hopefully keep other pests out of the gardens. Today is walk around the house and look for lantern fly eggs :annoyed:. Fun, Fun, Fun. On another note, have a good day all.

Got started reading couple of books about building the transcontinental railway. Books are bargain priced these days - we must be the last generation that likes printed words? Shipping was four times the price of the books ..... and they were like new hardbacks. My wife complains about the shelf space required but .....
Very hot here and supposed to get hotter as the week goes on.

Have you thought about purchasing a Kindle Steve? My wife had one for years and I finally bit the bullet and bought one for myself. Enjoy the many benefits of a kindle over a book, although I have talked to people that prefer a book in hand. Have a good read and day.

We have (thanx to my wif) one of every electronic device known to America I think. Three laptops, two or more notebooks and every iteration of cell phone you can imagine. I just got rid of her antique desk model computer and dismantled the disc drive.

    Good morning all,

    Have you tried using
    Diatomaceous Earth

It should help with the larvae Plus bed bugs, cockroaches, crickets, fleas, ticks, spiders, and many other pests - I do not think it will kill the actual fly itself. I use it in our dog pen twice a year, it is not harmful if swallowed just if you in hail too much.

    Have a great day everyone

I have been google-ing what can be done and they say Dawn dish detergent works good as well as vinegar. Tried both and so far it looks good. Tree guy said they only go after certain trees so mine is safe (hopefully). I'll keep a watch for them and most important their eggs so I can dispose of them. Thanks for the advise on the Diatomaceous Earth. Damn I can't even pronounce it :D. I'll keep it in mind. Is this the same stuff they use in some pool filters? If so I know where I can get some. Thanks.

Yea, I just call it DE - it is the same that is used in pool filters but you can get the food grade at Wallyworld (Walmart) which is just as good. I buy a 50lb bag each year so I can put it around the house and garage to keep out ants and spiders plus it helps with keeping flees and ticks out of the dog pen. It will kill flies but you have to spray them with a water solution using DE - so probably not as effective but it will kill the larvae.

A great series to watch Expedition Overland on Prime Video. I think ya all who have Prime would greatly enjoy it. It’s 3 seasons about 12 episodes per season. It’s about a group of guys In their late 20’s and 30’s and sometimes their wives who go over landing in maxed out Tacoma’s and 4Runners. First season they do Alaska, it was great. Second season from their home in Utah and Montana to the tip of Central America. Very fascinating, especially the time they spend with Team 5 in a remote village. (Team 5 is a group of former special forces guys who go to remote areas and sometimes dangerous places around the world and provide medical attention and treatment to remote areas) I binge watched the second season.Third season they do South America. I just started he third season and can’t wait to watch more. The characters are just plain likable good guys. It’s scenic, sometimes exciting and some great extreme 4 wheeling in Toyota’s. First season 2014, second 2016 and the latest 2018. If you have Prime check it out you’ll like it. When you watch you’ll think to yourself- I wish I would have done that.

I live a few miles from ground zero for those pests. We had one really bad season, now we see them in small numbers.
It’s also an app. I use my iPad to read kindle books.

Do you suppose that the di-atomic earth would help my wif's electronic toy addictions? She is worse than my kid was with his "game boy" 35 years ago.......
    Just hoping......

    Good morning everyone!

Another warm day on tap here in northeast PA. I'm going to clear some brush along the driveway and then...hit the pool!

We're getting the deck of our front porch replaced - had some wood rot after 16 years and decided to go with composite. We wanted to stay with the 3" tongue in groove look and also with a specific color....which doesn't give you many choices. I found a product - Aeratis Traditions - which was perfect. Right size/style and it then is stained/painted to the color you want. And, if you use one of the 4 stain/paint manufacturers they recommend they will reimburse you the cost of the stain/paint. Pittsburgh Paints and Sherwin Williams are on the list so we are golden. The contractor should have the deck done today and I'll stain it tomorrow!

Ken: I will look at the recommended Amazon Prime series sometime this week.

Mark: Is the stringer support new also? Looks like it is overkill but the support provided will eliminate any bowing or squeaking spots on the deck. I like what you are doing, retirement seems to agree with you. ;)
