We've had some nice lowering of the overnight temps down here - but still hitting 100º every day. This high pressure zone has just flat camped over the west/southwest and won't give the firefighters a break.

Full moon setting. The morning sky isn't so smokey as it was last week. View is due west toward the Saguaro National park - Tucson Mountains. Roger Wash comes right up to my back fence - no critters out back today. Until we lived here, I didn't realize the desert is greener than the Wyoming prairie! It rains there about the same as here - snow made the difference - when it didn't blow off to Nebraska or South Dakota.

Yes it’s great here. I’m in Carlisle for the car/tool show. Going home early am. tomorrow. The show is the worse I’ve seen in the 30+years coming down here. No venders, cars for sale or customers. Dam covid!!!
Hope it picks up next year. This could be it’s killer.

Temps still above normal for this time of year. But didn’t need the AC until just a bit ago. Looks like a beach day later.

    Afternoon all:
Off to a good start hunting, nothing in range, but my buddy and I both saw deer.

That's a bummer Phil, used to go to almost every one when it was just spring and fall Carlisle, then just to the GM and the Corvette ones. I started going when they had the 3rd one, the parts there were unbelievable and there was quite a bit of stuff that wasn't priced at the "Carlisle price"! There were a lot of commercial vendors, but there were also a lot of guys having a yard sale and just wanting to get rid of car parts, you had to be very careful if you bought something used there.
I don't think you hit the first 10 or so, there were BBC, Max Wedge, Hemi, 427 Ford, etc., blocks, heads, intakes, cranks, pistons, complete engines, you name it, everywhere, there was not near as much at later ones, I stopped going there quite awhile ago.
Ever go to Maple Grove swap meet, nowhere as big as Carlisle but some good stuff to be found there also.

Well, fishing was a bust, rained almost all the time we were there. Drinking beer soaking wet is not fun.

if your going to be soaking wet while fishing, then bourbon is the required remedy.

    Truth.

Good morning, everyone. Chilly start to the day here - a light frost on the ground.

Finished closing up the pool yesterday - put away the solar cover, rained/blew out the water line from the house to the pool and put the covers on the pol heater and filter. I am already missing laying out in the sun.

Not sure what I'll do today...maybe nothing. I love retirement.

Just a quick pic from S.E. Colorado. Just outside of Indianapolis on I70 now. Should be home in about 10 hours or so. Resized_20201002_080927.jpg

    Good morning everyone!!

Well, Sunday turned out to be a bust. Got a call that someone we had exposure to last Wednesday was admitted to the hospital with Covid on Saturday. Talked with our PCP and the risk is minimal, but.....we are now on a self-quarantine. Like I need an excuse to stay around the house. We are both feeling fine, as is Lynn's mom who will turn 94 next week. She was exposed as well - happened at a restaurant.

    Be safe out there!!

Mark, Sorry to hear your family was exposed.

Yesterday I did the last task of the backyard makeover, I burned the removed landscape timbers. I also prepared a Latin dish for dinner, Arroz Con Pollo. Dinner was delicious.

Yep - Its not like the medicos are saying they will kill the stuff - we must all be doing the things that slow the spread. I read recently that the positive steps so many have taken to protect against the C-19, are really having an big impact on the ordinary fall outbreak of the flu, common cold and other such virus. Our kid used to bring everything in the book home from school and give it to Deb and I ......when those days were done we were a lot more "resistant".

If we can’t kill it, then only naturally caused immunity will. If this is the case then all of the steps taken to slow the spread are just prolonging the outbreak.
This will result in a worsening economy.

    Good morning folks.
Had a long weekend in North Carolina. Our Grand daughter married a Marine stationed at Camp Lejeune and they got on base housing soooo Mom and Dad rented a U-haul truck and Grand mom went shopping for goodies for the kitchen and all was loaded into the U-haul and Mom and Dads SUV. Thankfully the new son-in-law had 4 of his buddies there to unload and help set up. We went for a ride around the base and I thought for sure I was in a separate state because it is so big. Went to the exchange to buy some more needed items and they had everything from pet supplies to kitchen utensils to clothes to guns (pistols and long rifles, ARs were plentiful in the rack). Food was in the commissary which was almost as big as the exchange. Time sure have changed since I was in:eek:. Dominoes pizza on the base delivers, strip mall with beauty parlor, fingernail salon, barber shop, massage spa:confused: and even a Dunkin donuts and a Starbucks. Almost made me want to re-up(not really). All in all, a long drive but a good weekend getting them settled in.
Nice Bull elk Harry. Congratulations on the hunt.

Dang Mark, hopefully all turns out well.
I am sort of on the same page as JEEPNIK, if it's anything like the flu people need immunity weather it be through contacting it or a vaccine.
If it is here to stay, and it mutates, we could be in for some unprecedented times down the road, bad enough now!
