Good morning everyone!!! Beautiful day yesterday - looks like another one today. Planning on crewing another hot air balloon flight this morning. Maybe I'll wash the truck, too. Enjoy and be safe!!!

A little something every chance we get.
Somehow, having dusty old boxes thrown down from the attic at me isn't the same as floating through the air.....
But the wife is happy now (for a while). Sunday munchies and some football - I'd feel bad about being inside, but we're supposed to have yet another pretty spectacular week!

A really nice weekend in the DC area. Fixed both of the fixtures in the garage, both had ballast issues. Showed my son, let him do the work, on the second ballast. Worked with my son to replace the front side marker lamp on his F150 so he knows how to do that now.

Our old down stairs PC died this morning, bad power supply. I could not believe that Best Buy had the power supply I needed. Purchased the supply and the PC is up and working.

Are any of you familiar with Taylor guitars? I started to take guitar lessons after 50 years of not playing. My old Epiphone has a problem where the bridge is lifting up off the soundboard. From my research that is a common problem with the model guitar I have. I am hoping to find a black Friday deal.

    Evening all:
I was just looking at a recoil chart to see which calibers might be satisfactory for a young girl hunter to start out with.
The .223 is under 4lb of recoil, legal to use in pa, but a little light for deer sized game. Went down the list, 30-06 is around 20lb, and then got to the .600 Nitro Express @ 154lb of recoil , that has to hurt!!!! Think we'll X that one off for her!

I looked at the 7mm-08 Harry, it was suggested by others also, I think she's only 11 or 12 and even that may be too much gun for her.

What type bullet Mike? Her uncle was going to lend her a .223 to start with, they bought 77gr .223 ammo and the gun didn't like it at all, I loaded some 65gr that they use on hogs to see how they shoot, but due to rate of twist it may not like them either, he hasn't got back to me about them yet. I can also load 60gr V-Max and 55gr V-max, don't know if they will work either, anything under that may be too light for deer.

I don’t know what they are using..
They don’t reload so I’m sure it’s store bought..
Have to understand they aren’t shooting long range.
If I happen to talk to one of them I’ll let you know.

I got my first deer with an '06. I was a skinny 14 year old. A good choice IMO is a .243, good even for an adult.

    Afternoon all:
Thanks Mike, will relay that to them, those can be bought or reloaded. I have a bunch of 55gr V-max, so I can reload a few and see how they group in his gun.
She wont be shooting long range either, looks like that 55gr did a number on that deer, good to know.

I think they are considering a .243 for her down the road Azreb, main reason is availability of ammo. Another womans or youth caliber is the .257 Roberts, ammo for that could be hard to find though. I like the "06" for deer, I shot most of my buck I with one, but my favorite rifle is a 660 Remington 6.5 Rem. Mag. nice compact gun to carry and also does a number on deer!

Good afternoon! I drop by here on occasion, so refreshing to see such friendly folks!
About 3 years ago I got tired of replacing fluorescent bulbs and ballasts, and started replacing with LEDs whenever a bulb or ballast went out, recently finished the last ones in the garage so never going to have to replace another ballast! Two LED 4ft bulbs are cheaper than a quality ballast.
I used the Toggled brand retrofits, they have been excellent, use the existing fixture and bypass the ballast.
The wife is sensitive to bright white so I used the 4000k color temperature instead of the 5000k. my whole house is LED now, 2700k warm white bulbs for most living areas that give similar color light as incandescent, 3000 k other areas where I want a whiter light.
For the fluorescent LED retrofits, I got most from Home Depot and ordered some from the manufacturer:

A couple years ago I replaced every bulb and fluorescent light in the house with LEDs. They last forever and use way less electricity. I haven’t had to replace a bulb since. The more I can avoid climbing a ladder the better.

I can relate, had to use either a light removal tool extender or a ladder replacing bulbs on tall ceilings, LEDs have stopped that time consuming task.

    Good Morning to the Porch!
I too started on the light retrofit years back. First with CFL on low use and non-living areas, then as LEDs came down in price, added colors and dimmability, they replaced anything that failed. Wife hated the colors on the CFL, even with improved, but you can now get virtually anything you want in LED. I have a bin full of incandescent lamps that I will never use, and I think the only ones left are the ceiling fans....

Maybe we get a little shower today, but in all, another great week of fall weather - which is actually rare in Central Texas! Usually 5-10 days a year, and it's over.
