I'm 67 now, planned to go this year but then COVID happened and I thought, "what the heck will I do anyway" so I kept working. I'm fortunate to be able to do my job from home so I just kept doing it -- I was going to be here anyway, may as well get paid. Next year I think I really will pull the trigger; I just want to get a warm fuzzy feeling about the vaccines working and being available.

Good morning, everyone!! Nice, rainy day here yesterday - looks like today will be mostly dry. I need to work on making some spacers for the bee hives to allow their generated moisture to escape - moisture, not cold, is what kills them more often in the winter.

    Be safe out there!!

Morning Mark. I've always been fascinated by beekeeping. Had several customers that operated apiary's. I know how important they are to our ecosystem , so thanks for keeping them going. Rains moved out of NC today and cold air moved in. High of 42. Helping install a gas pack today. Gonna be a challenge moving that thing across a wet yard. But oh well. We'll get it.

Good Morning Porch! Boy, miss a day and it's just like all the BS threads!

Sunny and cold here, hit a low of 23* for several hours, warming quickly in the sun. Found the thermo-cubes did NOT do their appropriate switching in the greenhouse to run the heaters, and it was a shivering 33* in there! Pull out the offenders, and plugged the heaters straight in. Got it warmed quickly, but I hate it when things don't work as advertised. Simple preset plug in heavy duty switch, and neither of them turned on below the set. Might be down a few cuttings, but we'll see. Everything in there had survived on surprise freeze back in October, and the fan ran, so it wasn't dead still. Going to return the offending junk to Amazon today.

    Stay warm! :bananadead:

Guess who forgot that PPP protection SHOULD HAVE included the greenhouse pump system?:anonymous:
Both pumps blown seal on top. New ones ordered, new placement INSIDE shed and greenhouse getting figured out...:annoyed: MIGHT be able to reseal... :notsure:
And next time, I will just shut it down overnight anyway! :bananadead:

Afternoon Folks. Upstate this morning to winterize the house and back home to relax. Had to drain and blow out all the lines open all the valves drain the hot water heater tank and drain the well pump and tank. Added RV anti-freeze to toilets and tanks as well as sink drains. Hopefully no broken pipes come spring. A little rain and sleet on the way up, but clear on the way home. Next on the honey do list is the Christmas decorations and tree set-up. Saw 3 buck tied to 2 different vehicles on my way home. One was a real nice size 8 point. Some folks are getting a full freezer:D.
Have a great day folks and stay warm.

Installed my bed step couple weeks ago, never saw the need for it until I got my Lomax Pro tonneau cover and had to open the tailgate first and couldn’t use the bumper step without closing the tailgate again. So now the bed step is one of my favorite add-ons and I love getting in and out of the truck bed with the tailgate down, no knees required lol :D

Do you keep a minimal heat going during the winter?

And folks have the audacity to complain about California. Been living on the coast most of my life. Never once had to add anti freeze to a toilet.

I hear ya. I've never had to winterize to that extent. I drain my pool filter and put covers on my outdoor faucets , thats about it.

Good morning. Thank you to Pennsylvania for taking the snow instead of Maryland. Stay warm and dry up there.

I believe I've been down here too long now to tolerate the chill I dealt with before. Living in Lander and Casper, Wyoming made us pretty familiar with wind, snow and cold - but my wif says its been summer here, ever since we arrived in 2001. Lander was usually good for a heavy snow fall before September was over (even if it melted) - traditional ice storm for Halloween in Casper made our walk and front step a nightmare. December 1 is the usual day to fire up the furnace here in Tucson......

The other rule for Casper - always snows for Easter.

Good Morning folks. A bit windy out and chilly here today but no snow(yet).

We turn everything off Tom, the place has been in the family for 50 years and every year after hunting season or Thanksgiving we close it down for the winter. The only source of heat is a small propane heater mounted on the living room wall that takes a good day and a half to heat the house in the spring and fall. We could get a bigger heater if we used the place in the winter.

Gets cold upstate and with no heat on, the residual water in the tank and bowl like to freeze. The anyi freeze is just a precaution. It's RV tank anti freeze so it is supposed to be safe for the environment. We hate going up in the spring and having to do plumbing repair work before we turn the water on.

Morning all... 47 here in Huntington Beach, with a high of 68.

I grew up in upstate NY so I don't consider this cold! I do enjoy the southern CA weather (most of the time) do miss the snow sometimes. No pipes freezing here and feel for those that have to deal with it!

    Stay safe and healthy!
