    Carl:
Sounds like you really should not have done the roll over until your income was lower.

I plan on depleting my Roth IRA before I tap into my IRA. My IRA is sizeable.

Here I go philosophizing again.. the Old Cliche, I love my country, I fear (despise) my government. I consider my country people like all of you, honest, hard working, caring. It's not the Government, not big business, not the red tape and BS, it's you and me. Why does our government seem to make it so hard after we've worked so long?

I've got two - both girls. One will be 5 in a couple of weeks and the older one will be 10 in June. Wish we lived closer :(

Hi Susan! Thanks for the "WOOT" ... Having a great time! I see frequent flyer miles in our future...gonna have to make this trip at least twice or more a year! This is our first trip since they moved here in November...worked out well; staying at Randolph in TLF, only 15 mins from their house. Their place is too small for us to stay...we'd get on each others nerves:eek: ;)

All this tax talk is making me nervous again...thought we had it figured, but now we are going to have to look again to make sure we are putting it in the right places for when we need to start drawing it out when the time comes?

Thanks "6"! We definitely are enjoying it! Ours are 20 months, a boy, and 5 months, a girl...they kind of stacked 'em up.:D

Not sure what's happening with the double posts...yesterday your sig pic was showing up in the lower portion of my "details" column...figured i had fat fingered something using this Iphone, my big old paws aren't exactly a good fit for typing on this little screen...then when I looked again it was gone...can probably chalk it up to what I affectionately call "computer crap!"

I better get through the shower and clear the way for my better half...still got more grandkid spoiling to do today! Take care folks...God Bless you and yours.

Thanks. Let me grab a soda pop real quick and I'll join you.

Understood. In my case, a dead motherboard while in Germany forced me to purchase a Win7 laptop while waiting for a replacement motherboard from the USA. By the time the XP desktop (assembled myself) was finally back up and running again, I had solved most of the quirks in Win7. Eventually switched over to Win7 entirely. Not totally satisfied with Win7, but it gets the job done. Microsoft is now threatening us with Win8, which I'm even less impressed with. Hoping the almost there Android-based tablets will advance enough by then to be a viable alternative.

You are not too far off base with your comment. Congress can and does change the rules for an IRA and a Roth IRA.

In 20 years the IRA will be 58 years old and will probably be outdated and need to be replaced.

Next to a 401K IRA's are the best deal we have unless you are a Representative or Senator.

Since other areas exist for computer discussions, certainly don't want to get too long-winded about this. In a nutshell, you're not going to gain much by switching. Macs use the same internal hardware, so are not any more reliable. As for the OS, any small gain from the dubious ease to use is offset by persistent concerns about compatibility or selection when buying new hardware or software. If computer needs are basic, a Mac may be sufficient (but consider an Android tablet instead). Beyond that, the Mac too often falls short.

You don't spoil them do you Susan? Both my son and my daughter as well as grand daughter live about a 100 miles south of us. It's a reasonably quick trip, but we would still like to see them all much more.

I sure wish they lived that close... add a 2 in front of that and that's how far away mine are :( :(

If they lived 100 miles away, I'd go see them at least once a month.

Who me, spoil them? not a chance :anonymous: ok, well, maybe a little... speaking of which... I need to see what I can get for them :goingcrazy:
