    Evening all:

:pout: darn, got a Christmas card back today marked not deliverable, it was sent to a dear friend of my mothers and after my mother passed away I stayed in contact with her, thought this may not be good! Checked the obituaries using her name and where she lived in New Eagle Pa , my suspicions were correct, she had passed away in May at 85 yrs old. :pout:

Welp, Christmas is over so back to being useful, right?
Replaced the ice auger in the ice maker, then put some salt in the water softener. Noticed I needed more, and since it was still drizzly, thought I would take care of that before garage work. So, did some errands, got the rest of the salt in, then decided I should go use my Lowes gift cards and get the plywood I need and have it cut, since it wasn't raining, and the rest of the week goes down hill.
Well, the big saw was broken in the San Marcos store, so, it was off to the Kyle store. Found good 15/32" at a mere $28 a sheet, and the cuts were free in Kyle, so I got my load all cut up for $3.48 LESS than my gift card value! But I didn't get home until after 3, so I did some dog training, unloaded, and another training.

    20201228_161045.jpg

Then I sat down for news and ended up taking a nap! But I am all set for tomorrow!

liked, but can't like. I have two on my card list that don't get returned, but I have no way of contacting them. I keep sending them, and eventually, I get a younger relative to let me know.

Can't like this Carl. It was really a nice gesture on your part keeping in touch with her. It's always a sad day when someone from your past moves on to a better place. RIP to her. :pout:

Operator problems first thing this this AM...... full moon is just hanging over the mountain behind the house and camera non-cooperative. Can't locate the batteries either.

I also got one of those "missing person" notes in a card recently - the engineer who taught me the trade (school didn't do the heavy work) has lost his wif to dementia. Several other mechanical guys I know have the same regard for this fellow - he was a valuable mentor and leader. Tried to write some words to him yesterday - and didn't know what to say......

Good Morning Porch! Always good to have a plan, and since the sun is surprisingly out, first up is paint that new plywood! I smell progress today!

Change in plans for today - Lynn will head out and run errands while I babysit the garage door repair guys who called this morning - been waiting to get on the schedule to fix or replace the opener for the garage attached to our barn - a 10' door. The opener crapped the bed a few weeks ago - it is 20+ years old. They brought out part to replace the circuit board..but of course the gears are toasted so I'm in for a new opener. Goodbye $$$$$.:rofl:

Carl: Sorry you had to find out this way for your Mom's friend.

Steve: Dementia is one of life's really hard afflictions to provide sympathy to a friend. As long as your friend knows youare there for them that is a real comfort.

And Mortgage Manor says Hold My Beer. I had an expensive year 3 years ago with a new roof and 2 garage doors with new openers.

Exciting day today for me. Going to turn off the pond waterfall and put the submergible filter in the pond along with the heating disc. I have 4 aerators and with the heating disc I should have an open spot in the surface ice no matter how cold out is becomes this winter. After that we are off to see my cousins oldest daughters son's chicken coop. At 13 YO he is raising chickens and selling the eggs. He is sold out of eggs and figures the only way to make more money is to expand the chicken coop to add more chickens. I may have pictures later on today.

    Afternoon all:
Tom, I had posted this before, my neighbor gave me some eggs awhile back from their hen house, there is a substantial difference in texture and taste over store bought eggs, I can see why people would prefer them.
Hope he knows that they stop laying after awhile, then it's time for the stew pot!

The young man is quite knowledgeable. I learned a lot today. He may be getting rid of one of the roosters, it is getting a little troublesome. When that happens he gives them to the Amish.
