Good morning, everyone! At this point, I'm just in the wait and see mode for the left eye. Right one just settled in after the detachment with no real issues - hopefully the left will do the same.

We are getting some light snow again this morning and supposed to get 1-3" on Sunday. Luckily, I have no where to go this weekend - got all the running around done yesterday so I'll be staying around the house this weekend. I need to check on the winch cable repair I did on Wednesday - snapped the cable. It would have been smarter if I'd have looked at it before it got cold but that would have spoiled the fun of repairing it in 17 deg weather.

    Stay safe and warm.

Is there some kind of football game on this weekend? Oh yeah, the one that's named after my wife Super Bowl LV - Lynn Volk!!

Mark...I'm going to assume that you have a steel cable? If so I understand your pain.
Just so you know there are synthetic cables/rope specifically made for winches.
They're much easier to work with when they break.

    Morning all:
    Snowing again here!
I WILL have a snow blower, now just need to figure out which one and might have to wait till summer to buy one though! :facepalm:One of those deals, been here about 35yrs and needed to be plowed out about 6 times, probably could have used a snow blower maybe once or twice a year on lesser snow that I could drive through. I need to shovel some paths here and there plus get easy access to the big garage, yup, think it's time to make it easy on myself!
The one my neighbor has is a Troy Bilt 3 stage and it seemed to work really well when he dug me out, my fishing buddy Jim works for a school district and they use the 2 stage Husqvarna ST 330P which he says work excellent.
Those are the only two I have hands on input about and am leaning toward the 3 stage Troy Bilt, any suggestions on any others to take into consideration?

    Good morning all,

Col, hope your eye heals as expected based on your experience with the other.

Cold here which as I mentioned the other day warm weather, melting snow, packed ditches all lead to iced roads underneath. Go figure several multi car accidents yesterday due to ice one where the highway was closed for hours - med-flight. Mtn mentality - 4 wheel drive gets you through everything, actually on ice it just adds two more driving wheels to get you in trouble - go like hell it will be OK...

Have a great day end of our weekend (the retired weekend is five days long) and the beginning for others. Be safe and stay warm even in HI LOL

A little something every chance we get.
Happy Friday Porch People! A balmy 49* here in Centex, on its way to a nice weekend, before the dive next week. Delivery of two replacement rain barrels today changed my plans from dealer service to barrel replacement, and tilling out behind the back gate so the doors will open better. Do that stuff while it's nicer. I can visit the Toyota dealer when it's not, since I will just be sitting and waiting.

Kind of not looking forward to going back to the dealer this time - been using them for over two decades now! But the computer can't find me to let me make an appointment. Called in to schedule the RAV4 for free new car service (the first one), got told they won't make an appointment for that - first come first served! New ownership! So, I guess we'll see about that, and maybe the Service Manager is still there.

Have a Super Bowl weekend, and hope your eye is hanging on Mark!

    Good morning fellas

I have some work to do this morning before going to work. We got about 10” of snow last night.

Carl when looking at snowblowers pay attention to the amount of plastic on them. Plastic, vibration, and cold don’t get along well and tends to break with time.
I personally use and like Ariens snowblowers. With a little maintenance they last decades. So the adage buy once cry once fits.
The power center I buy from had the Huskies also and looked like a great machine. I just didn’t care for all the plastic around the controls area. But just being used a few times a year in your case that might not ever become an issue.

Great information Will and very true for those in COLD areas - plastic and cold weather do not go well together. But then it is very hard these days to find all metal equipment - just sayin.

I may add don't get caught up with 'oversizing' talk to your neighbor and friend to make sure you get the size of blower you need for the job in hand.

Sorry to hear about the eye Mark, hope it settles down like the other one did!

I have a Honda 28" tracked snowblower. They came out with a newer one with separate controls for each track, which makes them much easier to turn. I went with tracks because I had a gravel driveway and didn't want to keep having to hold the front of the machine up off the ground as much. Now that we're paved it still works very well. Ariens would be my other choice if I was in the market. I haven't kept up recently but the early 3-stage machines were kinda gimmicky -- they might be better now. There is a forum, snowblowerforums.com, that has a lot of very knowledgeable folks.

We got 1"-2" overnight and this morning. I shoveled it off, took an hour or so, good little bit of exercise. Now it's off to do the shopping for my mom and to pay her a visit. She got her first COVID vaccine, :woot:

Hello all TGIF to all This is Russ from the Westside of Michigan. I have 2 stage Ariens It works great and is made out of metal. All good . Lake Michigan is turned on and we should get 8" of snow through Sat. evening. Wind direction makes a Ilot of difference. I will wait till later tonight and see if snow stops or slows down and then blow it off. I am sorry but I blow all of my snow to the east so don't get on me all of you eastern guys. I hope everyone stays healthy, wealthy, and wise. Go Tampa . Tom Brady is a former UM quarterback. Enjoy

How come no matter which direction your headed and which direction you have the chute pointed it ends up in you’re face?

    Afternoon all:
Sounds like you guys like the Ariens snow blowers, I will definitely keep that in mind, thanks for the replies.
Ran up to Tractor Supply for some odds and ends this morning, not a snow blower in stock, probably the same everywhere else.

I wish we had a closer Tractor Supply to us. It’s about a 80 mile round trip for us. Fleet Farm is about 50 mile round trip to the closest one but it’s a smaller store and for some reason not we’ll stocked since the company got new owners.

Oh and when buying a snowblower get the heated grips. Very much worth it!
