Will, you have uncovered another of the open ended questions. Like which came 1st the chicken or the egg? Or why do rabbits always return to their hole by the same path? Why does snow always blow in your face? Russ

A little something every chance we get.
When you only have ONE task, and an errand....
Well, pretty sure that my friends 's big equipment all got power washed in San Marcos. Kyle Lowes didn't have the granite at all :annoyed:, so I had to head to San Marcos. I just missed it all, but that Lowe's had the garden center cashier all locked up because of it, and the now wet granite is at the far back corner (which is on a grade back UP to the registers. At least I got some help loading, which they are not good at.
So finally to WalMart for SuperBowl chili fixins', and home. And FedEx comes with ONE of the rain barrels! Now I got to track the other one. :sadviolin:

So be it. Time to move stuff around after I find out where it went.
Edit - the other one is somewhere around Dallas?!?! :notsure:

Awright now, no more talk about the weather. You guys are old enough to know that the other guy always has a worse weather story to tell, so nobody wins that contest.
I've got a little different story for you here today:

I go to the VA to get a shot in the butt once a month, during which the guy makes my appointment for the following month. This time, my appointment had to be rescheduled 'cause he was going out of town. I got my shot yesterday instead of next week... He's leaving today on a jet plane to... Wait for it...

TAMPA! It didn't occur to me at the time, but it looks like he's one of the lucky "Super Heros" that gets to go to the game!

Good morning all, and welcome that that weekend thingy, again. I'll be looking for a snow blower for next season - leaning towards tracked because of the fairly long/steep 1st half of the driveway. Hadn't thought about the heated grips - that's a solid bit of advice. I have them on the old ATV and they do make a difference when plowing.

Enjoy the weekend and be safe!!

This is my backup walk behind.
Overhauled the motor and went through it.

Toro does a good job. More “truck like”. You have to work it.

People laugh when they see I have more than one snowblower, I have two generators, however I have used it in a emergency on more than one occasion over the years. Trying to get out to go to work with 3 feet of snow at the end of the drive is not something I want to stress about at 5am. So I just grab another and continue on. No muss, no fuss. With the new Ariens I have to force myself to use it. So every storm I alternate. Next storm will be the toro. I need the walk behind to go around the house. If I was to use the tractor I would destroy the ground.

Just make sure on all Ariens the cables are properly adjusted with no excessive slack.
The drive new system is opposite of most and the excessive slack with cause the drive belt to pop off
    The lower pulley. FYI

Good Morning folks. Just another day here. No plans except taking a walk on the beach, doing some reading (thats generally nap time) and a nice adult refreshment (Capt. Morgan spiced rum and fresh orange juice) to relax with.
Hope your shot guy is safe and enjoys the game Alan. Too many folks don't appreciate all that the military, police, fire and EMT personnel do for this country:thumbsup::oldglory:.
You are a wealth of knowledge about things mechanical (and then some) Mike. Thanks for being here. Hope your day at work doesn't turn into a cluster f#&k.
Have a great day folks and be safe.

    Morning all:
    Looks like more snow coming!
Often think about a vehicle I had years ago that I wish I still had, just to have around and plow snow! I had a 1942 FORD MB Jeep, and with a plow and a set of chains on it it would be a handy thing to have, darn thing didn't even have a heater in it though. Heck, I paid less for that Jeep than a new snow blower costs!

THX for the maintenance tip Mike. We have had the blower for about 3 years and used it twice now. I also have a small Toro paddle blower that I have rebuilt once. The Toro has been a work horse over the years. Like the Ariens, when we purchased the Toro we did not have much snow for the first 3 years. Best snow cleaning equipment I ever purchased. Worth the cost not to have snow for 2 or 3 years. However that was about 20 years ago and the Toro has seen duty in a few blizzards.

Back before our local elementary school was designated for Talented and Gifted students, meaning no local neighborhood children went to the school anymore, I would clear the sidewalk from our street to the school. Never had a homeowner on the sidewalk path complain, LOL.

This past Fall, I converted the joystick cable controls on my Troy-bilt to a hand crank.
The chute angle is still cable operated, but the chute rotation is not.
Cables were problematic over the years till I got fed up with them.

Good morning boys. Nice sunny day today but currently sitting at a -4 for temp. I have a older MTD snowblower for a back up for the Ariens but never used it as backup. Just use it now and then to run gas through it.
I told the wife that we have his and her’s snow blowers. Just get the rolled eye reaction. No complaints though she will man a shovel to help on the good snows. I have to fix the e start in the MTD when it warms up. Gear broke in the starter.
