    Good morning all,

Mike, do your best getting your A1c down. I have been battling it for years now and loosing the battle still below 7.0 but right on the cusp (everyone in my family has Type 2 - damn genes). It has now caused my kidneys some angst - This last blood work reveilles Stage 3 CKD as my numbers dropped a lot this past year. So now another diet adjustment and different meds, off the medforum and now taking Farxiga. I am not over weight or at least in my mind - 6' and I stay around 190, work out at least three times a week - I do need to step up my cardio. Col, it is a bitch getting old - parts start to fail and we aren't sure why it is so hard to maintain our health as it was so easy when we were young (physically). Everyone on here is very young in mind and heart.

Off to get the Maderno shot today, tomorrow I am getting a cardio CT Scan. That was scheduled before the blood work reveille. I really like my Doctor, he is all about prevention and as much holistic options as possible that are known to work.

Now fun stuff, I get to drive the Taco two times this week, no snow in our forecast just very cold temps.

We have a lot of pine needles to deal with and they can really damn up a gutter. Our main gutters are two story up so I do have to use ladders and a long power washer arm to get them clean. Try to make that happen at least twice a year. Always try to get then cleared just before the snow falls, huge issues if we don't. Our roof is so steep I don't see how any of those gutter guard systems would work even if they were affective.

Have a great day everyone, be safe - Life is Good

My Doc put me on 3mg of Rybelsus and then after 30 days went up to 7mg. I promptly got sick. Like sicker than I've ever been in my life, down for 3 weeks and just miserable. never puked that much. Back to Metformin and learned a big lesson.

Metformin (and its derivatives) destroys my gut - so no use to do that again! When I finally quit the stuff it took several months to calm things down....... Doc put me on some different stuff that "almost" works - usually bounces between 7.2 and 8.1.

Exercise and losing 15 pounds had virtually no effect. Heredity is hard to defeat.

I quit watching professional sports when I realized my tax money is in effect paying those ridiculous salaries and supporting the facilities.

It is a comment on the intelligence of the typical voters that they rely on celebrities to form their political opinions.

A little something every chance we get.
Doctors Offices don't do the flu or shingles (or immunizations past pedi) anymore. You go to the pharmacy, and it gets logged in the national system, as it should. It's a task that doesn't require the overhead or talent of a physician. You could live in a more rural area, where it's not the case, but mostly, it is this way now.

And evening Porch folks. Trying to be keeping up is getting harder around here! Spent the day swapping out our 1999 over the range microwave with a newer version of the same. Still took all afternoon, and the steady stream of "one more tool" from the garage to the kitchen, but it's done! It's not spectacular, and looks about the same except for the stainless door, but it's missing all the superglue and special fixes for plastic that gave use TWENTY ONE years!

Wife got her Shingles shot at a pharmacy, cost $89! Spent an hour and a half on the phone waiting for an answer to get her Covid shot couple days ago. 3 weeks till her second shot.

Good morning, all! More snow here in northeast PA this morning - just an inch so far and that's supposed to be about it. We'll see. No big plans for the day. I need to open up some room to throw the snow they are projecting for Sunday into Monday so I guess I'll pull out the plow.

    Stay safe and warm!

    Excerpt from CBS news..

The polar vortex has become synonymous with winter's most brutal cold. For days, the weather system has been sitting and spinning right along the U.S.-Canada border, with temperatures as low as -43F in northern Minnesota.

I have the perfect covid job.. clearing snow. Sure thing no one will encroach on my 6' by stopping to help an old man.

Morning all! It has been so cold around here that when we go out and it's 28-30 it feels warm. LOL!
Forecast is for single digit or below nights and 20's for highs.
Off and on snow storms for the next few days. I live on a dead end street with only a few houses so the town doesn't care to much if we get plowed out. I got tired of being wet and cold trying to get to work so I fixed the problem:

Now that I'm retired I can wait a little longer before cleaning up.

Mike, just be sure to get the darned Medicare sign-up in the right time interval at 65. The Feds have no qualms about charging more if you are late!

When I told the doc I was through with the "Metformin" (for the FINAL time) - he swapped me over to "Glipzide". Which seems to have the good effect and no downside - for me anyway.
