    Good morning all,

Col, my wife and her sisters plus kids and grand kids have been doing a zoom gathering every Sunday at noon EST for about the same amount of time. I agree what a great way to stay connected. We also did a nightly Hanukkah candle lighting with Alice's oldest sister and her partner (NY) and sister's brother-n-law brother (FL). I learned a lot, never had the opportunity to engage and learn about their celebration and history. Never to old to learn and experience new things.

Cold here and snow on its way plus that artic blast will hit us tomorrow, we will stay warmer today until it rolls further south. Our high for Sunday is predicted to be in the single digit -I know Will this is nothing to what you are experiencing.

End of the retired weekend and TGIF for those still working - have a great Friday everyone.

Happy Friday. Today my only project is putting a stronger bottom in a lateral file drawer. We want to be able to store video discs and Play Station games in the drawer. Going to cut a piece of MDF to fit the bottom then brad nail it on two sides and the back. That should support the extra weight in the drawer.

We took our stimulus checks and did a desk with a lateral file makeover. The footprint is a lot smaller and so much "stuff" will now be out of sight.

Unfortunately the desk box came destroyed and the part that had damage was the table top. Filed replacement request with the manufactureBox1.jpg Box6.jpg TableTop1.jpg yesterday and should hear back from them today. If I do not hear anything by 5 I will call them. Couple of pics showing the damage.

Sorry about the damaged package! I have all but given up on having heavy items delivered to my home. So many times the packaging has been completely destroyed and replaced with a few pounds of tape! I can't believe people are being so careless, I have to believe the packaging is just woefully inadequate.

I started having heavy items delivered to the store; for example the workbench goes to Home Depot and I pick it up there. My hope is to avoid the "last mile" part of the delivery process and hopefully avoid damaged or incomplete items. I recently broke that rule for a Wilton bench vise, thinking "how could anyone possibly break a vise?" Sure enough it arrived broken! Contacted Wilton via two different avenues, never heard a peep back from them. I ended up buying the broken part myself. Wilton has zero customer service apparently.

I believe you have the right idea Dave. The grief and aggravation one has to go through to try to return or replace things damaged in shipment is a real PITA! At least you can always return it to the store if it is damaged. Years ago we had ordered a cabinet from wayfair and the delivery truck unloaded the box and took off before I had a chance to look it over. The box corner was damaged like yours Tom and the top corner of the cabinet was broken off. I had to call wayfair and was told they had to investigate to see if it was their issue or the delivery company issue. Fortunately they did send another cabinet out and the driver told me the 2 people that delivered the first one were no longer with the company. Too many damage complaints. Good luck with getting a new replacement Tom.

    Morning all.

Procedure was more involved than planned. Face feels like I went 15 rounds with Mike Tyson and lost. Little snow last night and still cold.

    Have a good one.

This is surprising to me as a couple of months ago, I needed some vise jaw plates for a vintage 1940'-50s Wilton Vise. I called their number for customer service and the lady really went out of her way to help get the right parts. She had me send pics and measurements and when I did they called me back for more clarification. She called back the second tome and gave me the correct part number and the direct number to call in the order. The price was 35 bucks inc. shipping. Got them a few days later and they fit perfect. I had gotten some estimates from a local machine shop that were 100 plus, and that was not using the correct type of metal.
In the past it has been rare for me to get that good of help via phone and email. I can't say enough great things about Wilton's customer service

WE had this problem with a LG fridge . The damned thing had been dropped in the factory and the doors on a side by side would not align up with adjustment. The box was perfect -- problem was the damage was hidden under under the bottom of the case. This meant that it came out of the factory like this. We fought with LG for 3 months on this and they would not give in. I finally had to file a case with our State attorney General's consumer complaint service. Of course all they could do write some letters -so much for that. Finally I had to call the credit card Co and they took it on -- I called the online dealer and apologized that I was doing it this way as they would loose their payment and they did nothing wrong. I have ordered appliances from them before and they are great (U.S. Appliance out of Michigan).
We got our credit on the card and the on line dealer arranged for return shipment of the fridge.
I say NEVER NEVER order any LG large appliance from a on line dealer. Big box stores -probably ok as they would have replaced it quickly. I also did my best to "bad -review" this model LG online in as many places as I could with the exception of the dealer I bought it from.

I grabbed a hair dryer and headed out to the garage - followed your guidance and it worked perfectly. The hardest part was getting the heater wires off the OEM mirror - they really clamp on there.

I took the truck out for a ride down the highway to adjust the mirrors and test out the BSM function. Work like a charm and I much prefer them to the OEMs. No remorse here, either!

Same here.. My last attempt was trying to get a replacement fireplace refractory panel. After two attempts and two broken panels, I had to order one, pay for it up front, then wait for 'the call', then drive to Dayton (75 miles) and pick it up. I asked the kid to open the box and take it out so I could inspect it. What a PIA, but now I know the process.
Could it be the place I got the broken item from bought a truckload of broken items, and now collecting insurance money is their business? Hmmm...

Dang. Sending vibes. That Tyson guy is totally laid back and selling marijuana these days, can you believe it?

Maybe I should have called them. I tried website "contact us" link and sent an email to their customer service address also. Given their reputation and your experience, I wonder if they just have a gap in their coverage, or maybe a technology issue? Once I found their parts site the transaction was smooth, fast, and fairly priced.

Hope you get your covid shot soon. One lady I work with part time caught it :(

Thanks Ken. I'll take a couple of hours of chills over shingles any day of the year!!!! Did she get the pfiser or moderna? I've been hearing that moderna seems to have side effects after shot # 2. Either way, hope she's feeling better.

insects and about 100 squirrels      that destroy things and annoy the girls

My dr's office does the flu shot. But doc doesn't give them - medical assistant does. But this year I got my flu shot at a drive thru clinic. No waiting around sick people!!! Got to stay in my truck.

Hope you get your shot soon.

Mom got a ticket one time.... she was in the middle of a group and she got picked. Cops response was "well, you were speeding, even if you weren't the lead vehicle"

    Good to hear.

    Feel better fast.
