Yep Life magazine called it the loneliest road in America in 1986 and the moniker stuck. You are right it is awesome. Love those wide open desolate places.

Gas is contaminated in many small places. Gas in the small towns is good, fill er up. Don't pass up Ely, Salina, or Green River without filling the tank.

Good morning everyone! Lot's of great stories from you about life's experiences and close calls. Glad that we're all still here to tell the stories.

Quiet day here for me. Nothing really planned and it's going to rain most of the day so I definitely won't be outside. Chance of some snow late night into tomorrow morning and then we start to warm up into the 50s. Woo hoo!!!

Heading out for dinner tonight at the college's restaurant. We love the food and supporting the scholarship fund - and the sponsoring restaurants - just feels good.

    Stay safe out there!!

My son is 21 and I taught him well. He has reached the Mr. Fixit title status now. I now am at a stage in life where I know I can fix it but hiring a plumber to replace a bathroom faucet is worth the money for me not have to make 3 trips to Home Depot. This week I did replace the water cartridge in another bathroom faucet and yesterday I rebuilt my pond pressure flo filter for installation this weekend.

We lived in a time where our parents did not know how dangerous the activities we were doing really were.

Where do you purchase the fish and did you make the poles yourself?

You can throw a stone from my front yard to Route 50.

Good morning and it is off to the landfill for me. Today is hazardous waste day for us county citizens. My neighbor across the street is moving and he had two boxes of crap for me to take. When I get home it is off to a BBQ Grill store, for information and some charcoal. Then on to a John Deere dealership to pick up a garden cart. Busy day for me.

    Morning all,
Well made it to Hump day and past so that is quite an accomplishment. I turn 66 in May . Feel like sweet 16 and never been kissed. Married 45 years in August. Great gal to put up with me.

Tom, I like the guitars. I pick and grin a little also. Strum once in a while.
I didn't get drafted. Ended the draft in 1973 so that wasn't so bad. Went to Ferris State College and studied auto mechanics. Great courses. They taught us to test before replacing. I do a little car repair in my spare time. The kids (3 boys) always call when they need something or there is a noise in their car. Just good to hear from them.
Yes winter is done here in West Mi. Going up to the 60's this weekend.
So everyone enjoy March Madness and have a safe , healthy day.
    Russ

The stories from the past are awesome and listing to 60's and 70's music is the best.

    :hattip: Tom, Good Morning Sir

They also did not have the tech to keep track of us, I think, while it allowed us to get out there on the fringes of danger, it also developed a level of self reliance and resilience these kids today missed out on. Not their fault, just victims of the times. Mom and Dad didn't hang out in our pockets on a smart phone. If we got in trouble, we figured out how to get out of it on our own. If no one got hurt and no metal got bent, no one had to know. ;)

Hope your busy day goes well.

    Respect :oldglory:

    Good morning all,

Great reminiscing our pasts and how - somehow - we got this far. Lots of near calls (nine lives), a better time in some respects to be a kid and growing up.

As a kid when getting in trouble at school I would get assigned the 0600 mass and have to ride my pike as my parents felt that was part of the punishment instead of them getting up to drive me. It was about 12 miles on city streets - that wouldn't happen today.

I play 60, 70 and some 80's on SXM during the day while working in my office here at home.

Stay safe and have a great day everyone

The wheels are stock Toyota faux beadlocks. I found a replacement for the damaged wheel at autorimshop.com in the wrong color, but rattle can fixed that problem for me.

A little something every chance we get.
:pccoffee: Good Moring Porch! Today is finally empty the greenhouse day, and take a tally of what got lost. About half the big plants show a lot of wear from "after" the big freeze - they were green when unwrapped, but then faded. Going to need to make changes for that thing on year two, because it gets way too hot, and needs more air. I have self opening vents on the roof, so that will be a shade cloth challenge. Oh well, it's prettier than the old metal frame.....

The fish are Amazon (of course), and no matter what, I always end up with those two - because I want at least 36" - 40" long. Being on the landing path for our little airport on the other side of town, I remain amazed that I don't get more "close observation" of the clown fish! The poles are PVC pipe remnants from various projects, glued and screwed at every (increasing) joint. Now and then, they will snap, but I still have plenty of PVC it seems. Yes, they did get "sky camo" painted! It did all start with cheap Wal-Mart fishing poles - but they had too many issues!

The best part is my top secret, ingenious, ridiculous anti-tangle system! They do NOT tangle, or fly over the pole top!

For my fellow Social Security receivers - anyone get an extra $16 deposit this month? I'm trying to figure why the SSA deposited $16 in my bank account this week. I checked on the My SS page and there is nothing there about it - my normal deposit is scheduled for next week as usual. I don't qualify for an Stimulus money.

I don't start getting mine until next month, but I heard something about people who don't get the Stimulus, are entitled to a 12 pack......

It might actually be the 2021 Cost of Living adjustment that should have been made but missed. Check your SSA.gov for messages about COLA.

 No disrespect Colonel, you must be the CFO in your house. My Kristi is mine, and that kind of thing drives her nuts :goingcrazy:
I don't have a clue, and wouldn't care, but Kristi would be on my moose butt to find out.
Good luck with your inquiries. ;)
