Another beautiful day here in Northern California, low to mid 80’s. Yesterday was a good day and a bad day. We visited our dentist yesterday and the good news teeth look great , come back in 6 months for cleaning. Bad news is our dentist is in the Bay Area. Our dentist is 110 miles away in the Oakland San Francisco Bay Area. We moved from the Bay Area 8 years ago but retained our dentist cause he is the greatest dentist we’ve ever been to. We hate going to the Bay Area, it’s crowded, stressful and traffic is a nightmare. Took us 2.5 hours to get there but coming home was 5 hours. The freeway was mostly stop and very little go. When we drive into the Bay Area we both feel the stress and anxiety building and we both comment on how we feel the stress leaving as we drive out of there. We’ve tried dentists close to where we live but have been disappointed to say the least. May have to look some more for a new dentist.
Bad news #2 , took my truck to the car wash this morning and the antenna broke and ripped off. Researched replacing it and looks like a pita. I’m just going to pay to have it done.
Our cpa is going to let us know how we did with our income taxes today. Last year was a very good year for the investment portfolio but I think taxes on our capital gains are going to be ugly. Today I’m just going to sit out on the patio and catch up on the various books I’ve been trying to read for the last month. Tomorrow it’s back to chores and honey do’s.
    Be safe porch peeps.

Good dentists are as rare as hen's teeth. We have five within a hundred miles and I've tried them all and don't like any of them.

I wonder if your sauce is like mine... I tried to downsize my sauce by measuring everything and writing it down. Forget about it! I somehow get it right every time without measuring anything, but can’t tell you how much of anything goes in it.

Yes, I couldn’t tell you amounts if my life depended on it. I taste throughout the day always being careful to not add too much of anything. I usually get it spot on but there’s times that Holly comes home and says it’s missing something. I’m generally 100% on the final product.

Yep, the add too much comment is for real. IMHO, if it's right, a taste test won't identify individual ingredients. That goes for most any recipe, though. I don't have many specialties, but spaghetti sauce is one of my favorites!

Good news, I waited over a week for this part, and it came last night.

    And at the bottom of the truck, it goes here (in between the fluid lines);

And the bad news is, made no difference. So, time for professional help.

Oh, BTW, you can see all the leaking steering fluid & grease on the rack, and the destroyed rod boots and ends, according to SM Toyota.

Wish I had known. I could have told you that would not have fixed it.

yep. I just had the AC serviced (evac & refill), and added 1 lb. Freon because it was working hard when it got real hot here. Worked great for a week, and no reason to believe the guy did anything wrong at all. He even questioned doing it, because it was blowing real cold on a cool day, but gauges showed it was low. So, since I find no records of any AC service (I'm the fourth owner), I decided it was time to treat it nice.
I was fixing the the wire for my E-Fan, which should connect to the mag clutch wire, so it will run when AC is on. I had a connection at the relay, but I didn't like it, so I went and found the wire at that sensor plug. I unplugged it, decided that there was no slack or good place for a splice, and plugged it back in.
Went back up to the relay to test some more for the wire. AC hissed at me, made warm air, and then the AC light started blinking.
I have replaced the MagClutch relay, because I had one. Checked all the fuses. Messed with the connection for the AC Amp, because I changed the filter(!). Nada.
I have marked the pulley, clutch, and the clutch doesn't pull in, though the belt runs fine. Figuring it was the ONLY thing I messed with, I got a new sensor. Takes about 10 seconds for the blink to start, but I can tell the clutch doesn't move by the marks.

    So, that's where I am.

Yes, for about 10 seconds in the cab, before it just went to warm air.

Doesn't smell bad now with heater and plain air vented, inside or outside air. Only lasted that 10 seconds.

    Yeup
Sounds like She done blowed up.
Think you lost all your Freon.
    Old system working fine.
Then you Evac and recharge and top off the system.
Increasing pressures in a old system.
    You shocked it..

if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
    Well
Now she is broke and now you gotta fix it.

That's what we said when we did it - but I get colonoscopies too! :anonymous:

I guess my actions were coincidental to it discharging. My first question for the service guy was going to be that if pressure sensors can prevent the clutch from working, we better check my pressure?
So, I have him look for a blown seal? I wouldn't think it would have killed the compressor, or am I being stupid?

By the way, I greatly appreciate your time!!

If you heard a hiss and a funny smell you lost the Freon. Aka you blew a hose, seal, condenser, or evaporator.
The pressure sensor will keep it from working at over low pressure or over high.
But if you recharged it and raised the pressures even though it is in the zone it’s a old truck.
I can’t be 100% sure cause I’m going by explanation but I think it’s empty now..

I believe you're right about empty - can't be positive about the sound - I had my "ears" out. But it made some noise, and smelled for sure!
Believe you're right as well about something blowing. Haven't seen anything obvious on the hoses, but I will check. I believe the guy that filled it checked for leaks when we did the work, so I'm going to check with him to see if I can pay him to go through that process and isolate it. He only did what I asked, and was very thorough and took his time to explain the work. Don't know if he does repair, but if he says he can troubleshoot the leak, it would be worth it to me. Good shops are few around my little town.
And, you sure don't want to be without AC for long down here!

    Many thanks Mike!

Good morning everyone. We got a coating of snow yesterday - a day after I cut the grass for the first time this year. It was gone by early afternoon - welcome to spring in PA.

    Stay safe out there!!
