    Morning all....
We've had a great weekend so far! Went to see Alison Krauss & Union Station concert Friday night, excellent show. And then yesterday bought another Porsche!
Just a little celebrating before Joanne has surgery on Tuesday. She's feeling a little nervous, naturally, but is looking forward to getting this all behind her.

    for your wife Rob.

Do you purchase the cars then fix then up for a resell?

I have a good friend that does that for Buick Regals. There are always one or two buyers for the car before he even finishes the repairs. ;)

Yes Tom, I've been restoring Porsches for the past 20 years. It's getting harder to find good candidates now that everyone seems to have caught on to the value of the really old ones. Original unrestored 356s from the 50s are almost out of reach for most people....Cabs go for over 100K and Speedsters are reaching 200K and up. I try to find cars without too much rust in the mid 30s and put 20 or so into them and usually make a pretty good profit when I sell them.
'55 speedster that I sold to Nicolas Cage...

    Nice speedster.

My friend is not in your league. He usually pickes up the 2000K+ Regals for $500 or less fixes all the mechanical and electrical problems then buffs them out and sell the car for $2000 to $2500. A very nice little business that fuels his passion to work on cars.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes for JoAnne...I've passed them on to her and she really appreciates every one. She agrees with me....you folks are very special!

Carl, I didn't buy the green one....I found a yeller one that was a better buy. Not a lot of work to be done except I'll do a complete re-do of the interior.

Spent a good chunk of today doing the HID retrofit. All I need to do now is tweek the final aiming, button up the wiring and wire up the CCFL rings.

Stock headlamps were a PITA to remove. There is a screw behind the fender that needs to be removed.

I aimed the headlamps on a roll of paper that I draped across the garage about 7 feet in front of the Tacoma. I really need to find a white wall and get back about 25 feet from the wall. I can tell you this that adjusting the headlamp up and down is a royal PITA for a guy with big hands. There is so little space behind the headlamp.
