Didn’t go as well today. I had to break out the strap. Didn’t want to. But it’s done.

    Root ball out of control.
    Had to shave it.
Don’t look like much but 4 hours of work.
If not for the piping in the general area I would have gotten my buddy down with his backhoe.

I like to use the back part of the trailer as a scraper. Does a good job to level the area.

A little something every chance we get.
@Tacoma Mike - Just say "NO" to the backhoe! It just leads to even more roots!

67 years young, got my second shot (phizer) on March 30, felt nothing on either one. Now getting the truck ready for a road trip from Washington down to Utah to play in a couple national parks then down to Phoenix and back up and over the Sierras to the coast and back up. Couple weeks should do it. Cheers all

    Welcome to the porch!!!

And good morning everyone!!! Today the dumpster should be delivered so we can start the demo on the greenhouse - going to pull all the old bent windows and take off the exterior sheeting. Our contractor will put in the new windows (going to use Lexan panels for 3 sides and double-hung windows on the front and a new door). Our contractor will do all the install and also re-skin the tractor garage next to the greenhouse with the same exterior sheeting.

    Be safe out there!

    Good Morning Folks.

Welcome to the porch D=knoww. Nothing better than a great road trip. Enjoy the parks and most important, Be Safe. They still have the senior park pass for National Parks. Saves a bit on entrance fees. Here's the site,

Have a great day folks and be safe.

I would say get the test. My 3 prior tests, over a 50 year span, were raise your hand when you her the sound. Not this last test, it was comprehensive including the raise your hand and phoneme sounds, repeating back phrases as the sound get lower, measuring the sound between your ears, tones that are amplified until you feel uncomfortable, and measuring sounds that are broadcast into each ear. The test are not simple anymore.

The entire process, from the testing to the purchase, is pretty much shroud in secrecy, from the manufactures websites to the actual purchase. Prices are non existent on the websites and trying to compare features is hidden pretty well on the websites. I made the mistake of signing up for a third party benefit, on the cost of the hearing aid, from my Medicare Advantage provider. Someone has to eat the cost of the lower price and it is usually the hearing aid provider. To top it off the service after the sale is also limited and the entire pricing may cost more over the span of one to two years. When my audiologist found out I had contacted the third party vendor she really wanted nothing to do with me from that point forward.

The first part of the process headed me towards Costco. My neighbor likes the Costco in our area so I made an appointment there. The process was professional and up front for all parts of the purchase process. The price was as advertised on the Costco website for the Kirkland Signature 10.0 hearing aids. But even at Costco the Hearing Aid portion of the website is buried and hard to find, that secrecy thing again. I saved about, estimated, $4000.00, by using Costco.

The Kirkland Signature 10.0 hearing aids are made by Sonova the same company that makes Phonak hearing aids. I ran across a specification sheet comparing the Kirkland Signature 10.0 hearing aids to the Phonak Paradise P90 and they match up pretty much feature to feature especially with the actual hearing aid chip and the number of tuning channels. I have an android phone and the Phonak Paradise plays well with Android, as does the Kirkland Signature 10.0

Welcome to the thread. Sounds like a really nice trip. I have been to The Arches and it is beautiful. You can make a day out of the adventure with no problems.

    Good morning all plus Susan,
Don't be afraid of getting the knee replaced Ken. It took my surgeon approx. 1 hour for the left knee and 1.25 hour for the right knee. Had 1 done in Jan 2018 and the other in May 2018. I was in the hospital overnight for both. PT started the next day. Painful. It was worth it. They want you to do PT at home also. They give you a list of exercises to do at home. They want to get your leg as straight as possible. You will have to wear compression stockings for a while (sexy). probably be on blood thinner also. The other goal PT has is bending the knee back as far as it goes. All real painful. You will be surprised at how being down will weaken the muscles. I had to use a walker for a month or so and couldn't drive at all. Not good being driven around by the wife. They will give you like a weeks worth of narcotic pain killers .Don't become hooked on them. Get a bell and put it by your chair on on the porch and ring it when you need something. It works great. In between my knee work the Dr. discovered an A-Fib condition. So that moved my right knee work back. The heart is more important than the knee. All went well.
So today off to do yard work . Spread mulch and play with the smoker.
So have a safe healthy, wealthy, and wise day.
    Russ

Not looking forward to the PT Russ, but it is a necessary part of recovery. I will do what they say and believe me when I tell you I hate taking medication. Only when I absolutely need it. Thanks for the heads up on what to expect. The wife is already getting into her "pamper me mode". She tells me I am the worse passenger she has ever had because I am always telling her how to drive . If all goes well before hand, June 17th is surgery day.
    Have a great day.

Good luck Ken; it's only bad for a while, and the pain is a fair trade for the pain you'll be giving up. PT will be your best friend, especially if you think Positive Therapy! And don't forget POOOL!

Sorry @Tacoma Mike , I don't have fancy toys and forget to turn them off when I play!

:pccoffee: Good morning the rest of you Porchies, and welcome @D-knoww .

You aren't getting off that easy Mike, under the porch is the old push mower, if you start today you should be done with the lawn in 3 days! :D
Darn, these guys will do anything to get out of work to go fishing.
