I see you're enjoying retirement Mike, still better though than punching a clock and putting up with BS!
My buddy who quit his job after 42 yrs. started at another machine shop on Mon., same pay, full paid healthcare for the wife which he didn't have before, and half the commute, the only thing he lost out on is the 7 wks. paid vacation. Haven't seen him since he started the new job, but I would think he will have no regrets. He is 60, so I would think that he will work another 5 years until 65, possibly 66 or 67 to get full SS, at least he's at the point of having options on which route to go.

    Evening all:
Darn bear moved some rocks around here and there, some were lining a drainage ditch and I had to reposition them.
Started looking if there was some type of repellent to try to keep the critter from "visiting" the pond and constantly knocking the drain pipe over, from what I'm reading they don't like the smell of pine sol, Lysol, ammonia, and apple cider vinegar. I will give it a shot by hanging some containers with those products in them around the pond, if that don't work :annoyed:!
Could be worse though, I could have MOLES! :D

Lead is always a decent solution... :infantry:

From here, that seems the problem, your Fur, Fish, & Feather Folk aren't allowing enough lead application to the bears. :notsure:

If he/she is becoming a nuisance bear, notify the game commission. If they determine that's it actually nuisance they will set a trap and relocate him/her.

There's more than one, and a guy up in the development feeds them cookies! The game commission already warned him, but you know how that goes!!!!
I have thought about calling them and seeing if they could place a trap, there are more and more bear being seen around the area in recent years, that is until hunting season starts, then they seem to disappear!

    Good morning everyone!

I am back on the porch. Anyone miss me? Got back home last night about 9 after making the 11 hour drive from Bardstown, KY. Lynn and I spent 4 days with my sister and her husband touring some of the distilleries on The Bourbon Trail. It was a great time - lots of great bourbon and food...and a ton of laughs, too. I didn't want to spend another night in a hotel - the B&B we stayed in in Bardstown really spoiled us.

I took the Tacoma - it's first long trip. I really enjoyed driving it and it was able to handle the weight from the haul we brought back.:eek::rofl: I'm going to have to ration it a bit to make it last until we go back again. We basically looked for things we can't get here in PA right now or ones that were exclusively sold at the distillery.

    Back to reality today.

    Good Morning Folks.

Wow Mark, that is quite an assortment of Bourbons. Enjoy them.

We have bear up at our place in Columbia County Carl and I have yet to see one. Across the road from our house is an old apple orchid and some of the trees still bear fruit and the bear love when the apples fall and ferment. The neighbor said it is hysterical to watch them walk after they eat them. I have come to a conclusion Carl. You must have inner city bears Carl because of the damage they do.

Going to be another hot day here. Hope everyone has a great day and be safe.

Is that enough to hold you for the rest of the month? LOL Quite the assortment of spirits! Looks like you had a terrific weekend get a way.

Weeding and shopping for me this morning. Then replace the battery in my son's laptop.

A little something every chance we get.
:pccoffee: Good Morning Porchies! An "I don't know weather" Monday here is probably going to be more grey than wet. Back to some yard and greenhouse putz projects for the day methinks.

Oh, we did bring in a nice Roma, some grape and cherry maters this weekend. Not a huge crop, but I basically grow what we can eat and that's all.

    20210605_140517.jpg

Nice bourbon collection there, Mark. Wish I could, but I'm not "supposed to" be having that stuff anymore. Now and then I can sneak a drink and it won't hurt, but I sure couldn't explain THAT litte assortment!

    Happy first Friday all!

Nice collection Mark. I see 4 of my favorites there - Four Roses, 1792, Eagle Rare and Makers Mark. Haven’t had a sip of whiskey in a month, think I’ll imbibe a little tonight, a little Eagle Rare may be just what I need.

Nice work, great timing. I did the lawn including weed whacking early early Sunday. Still sweated up a storm!

Anybody here have the Brood X cicadas? The woods around us are emitting a constant, monotonal note from before sunrise until after sunset. It's crazy.

The race track was inundated with frogs this past weekend. Loud enough to hear them over the cars sometimes. Some people didn’t sleep because of them

Senior moment. Talking about the weekend (got the Taco garage DMM mounted and fuel tank skid plate installed) but added too warm to go hiking with my friend. 75F 100% humidity this morning, this afternoon will be 90F but drop to only 75% Humidity. My furry friend is staying in the AC-cooled house. Hard to get a photo with all three in the picture. So double header for Susan.

    Afternoon all:
DONE! Made up 3 containers with holes in them and wicks and filled them with pine sol, then took a heavy plastic bottle, cut holes in it, and filled it with ammonia, then placed the 3 pine sol containers in a triangle around the pond and put the ammonia container under an old upside down tub with holes in it that's by the pond.
Just got done straightening out the drop pipe, and now will see if the suggested "bear repellent" actually does work. :notsure: :fingerscrossed:
They say a black bear can smell food from 1-2 miles away, hopefully the pine sol and ammonia is repugnant enough to them to make them keep their distance!

Good morning everyone! It was a hot and humid one here yesterday. There were thunderstorms all around us later in the afternoon but we never saw any rain - just a few drops at one point that lasted about 30 seconds. Another hot one in store for today.

I had my Zero Turn in the shop while we were gone - picked it up yesterday morning. Went to cut grass and noticed wasn't cutting right - the throw pattern on the clipped grass wasn't normal and as I circled around I could see there was spacing between the two outer blades and the center blade leaving about an inch of uncut grass. Ugh. Wrong blades. Put it back on the trailer and headed back to the shop - new blades on order but I'm cutting with the garden tractor again until they come in. The owner of the shop is a friend - and about to retire in a few weeks. Sold the shop. He couldn't have been more apologetic - realized he'd ordered the wrong blades. On the plus side, I got to use the trailer twice in one day.:D

    Be safe out there!!

GM sixties tech wizards and gurus! Is anyone besides me seeing very strange errors when trying to visit sites? Stuff I go to every day is throwing errors at me...

EDIT: It appears as though several sites are experiencing issues. I actually had one of them admit it! So if you see "connection failure" or 503 errors with strange text, try again later.
