Always room up on the porch for another rocker Dwayne. Drop in anytime as we have a few young folk stopping in from time to time. Even Susan
stops in to check on us and making sure we are okay.

Elders??? oh I guess that's most of the folks on here :).

Thanks Carl. Have to be at the surgical center at 5:30 in the morning :annoyed:. Hope the doc has his coffee and is fully awake before he cuts:rofl:
    my knee open.

Have a good night folks and I'll post pictures sometime tomorrow. (this should be fun )

Politics and religion make people crazy. Look what happened between the Catholics and Protestants in Ireland or what we did to our Native Americans and I could name dozens of others going back in history. Mans inhumanity to man.
Must have been quite interesting for you living in Spain under Franco the dictator. I’ll bet you have some stories.

He doing the cut up the front or along the side? Think it was Judy who said hers was done along the side and her recovery was easier. :notsure:

    sign me up, too!!!

Take your pain meds BEFORE your therapy!!! :D

    me, too!!!

That'd be awesome to speak with a pilot of one of those or an SR-71.

That's too early to be there :anonymous: but you should get your surgery on time. Best of luck!!! Don't give the nurses too much of a hard time! :D

Please forgive me for not asking how you are doing, if you have mentioned you are or have been sick.... I read posts on my phone, but don't like replying (too small and hard to type), or I only have a minute, and then when I get back on, I get "taken" to the newer posts :pout: My appologies.

Actually, things we relatively peaceful under Franco. Crime was rare because punishment was severe. And at the end he had really lightened up on repressing other views.

When he died and Juan Carlos took over the ETA went wild. Communists and the military both tried to take over. Drug use went through the roof and crime soared.

Some say it was the backlash after years of government control. Things are much better now so maybe they were right.

Good morning everyone!! Sending good thoughts your way today @johneman Ken!!

A bit chilly here this morning - 39F. I'm truly ready for some hot weather.

A hard day at Mighty Mortgage Manor yesterday. Lynn and I pulled the siding off the mower garage so our contractor can re-side it to match the greenhouse. When we did the greenhouse, to panels pulled off easily after loosening up a few nails. This one was done with 3" nails...spaced about every 6". Took about 5 hours to pull it all off and then remove the fiberglass insulation (the building was originally built to hold a hot tub). At least it's finished now and ready for the new siding.

Grass cutting day today. And then I'm going to spend some time by the pool! These old bones need to absorb some heat.

Here's the progress on the buildings so far.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch People! It's mowering day here as well, once it dries off from last nights watering! (I hate our allowed schedule - Wed and Sat PM!) And I try to mow Thursday morning.

Good wishes to our newest Bionic Man!

That greenhouse is looking AWESOME Mark!

 Good Morning Cool Old Dudes and Susan
Day one of 30 off. Check of the weather says I should be able to thatch the front yard by mid-morning. Then I'll cut it, water it, and put down some Weed & Feed.

Waiting now for a decent hour to crank up the pressure washer and clean off Stitch's underside. Service manager doing me the solid replacing front propellor under warranty said, "do me a favor and pressure wash it before you bring it back for the new part install. ;) " I got lucky randomly getting this guy. :) I was fully ready to foot the bill. Need to order a set of skids ... gonna talk to my truck guy see if he can get me a break on shipping. Hope to prevent a next time.

Kristi and gkids are airborne outta Sioux Falls...great circle route ... Chicago-Fairbanks-Anchorage. Estimated in 8PM tonight.

    Mark , Buildings looking good!

Ken , Hope all is going well.

Be safe, healthy, and happy. :)

    Respect :oldglory: GBA

There was a place outside of Bakersfield, the first time I had been to a Basque restaurant.

A plate of thinly sliced meat was served. Few tried a slice, but it was fantastic. No one was eating it, but was seasoned and prepared to perfection. I went back for a fourth slice, was halfway done eating it when Ken Adams learned over and said "Oh man, you are the only one at this table to likes tongue!" I couldn't swallow the rest of it. Damn you, Ken!

As a kid, my grandmother prepared and cooked everything. Sweetbreads were a favorite. Light, airy, crispy. Years later realized "lungs" Irish grandmothers never let anything go to waste!

Five siblings and four cats growing up. To help the budget my mother would buy beef heart. Toss in the freezer to firm it up, slice it into cubes, and the cats loved it. As a kid, it was fascinating to see the chambers and valves and realize it was the pump. Every six-year-old should know how a pump works. So one day the butcher handed over the heart to my Mom (she was the only one who bought it whole) and a lady noticed how cheap it was and asked "how do you prepare it". Mom had a long week and just looked at her saying "Cubed small and feed it to my little ones raw". The poor lady looked rather aghast.

Folks that don’t understand eating tongue, heart, brains and so on are mostly young, city people.

Of course they are better from a veal calf (real veal not manufactured). But you don’t waste good food.

Tongue is a lost treasure not often eaten nowadays. The buffalo hunters would strip the hides to pile on their wagons, and the parts they most prefered to eat themselves was tongue and liver. The excess tongues would go into a cask strapped to the side of the wagon full of salt brine, and they would be shipped to the best eastern restaurants to be served to the wealthy patrons.
Now tongues most often go into another barrel. The one where all the offal ends up that gets made into dog food.
But if you can find it in a grocery store... it's still expensive.

To you Susan, and of course anyone else, who is interested. I HIGHLY recommend watching this video By Brian Shul. Be prepared -you you will be hooked and it takes a bit of time. You most likely will be impressed with him. I certainly was, as I was in the USAF, and flew on missions that flew in concert with the SR-71 in S.E.A. My kids bought me his book for Christmas and it is another winner besides this video. I told a HS classmate who was a USAF pilot about this, and to my surprise, he went thru flight school with Brian and was stationed with him in Thailand.
