Well, there it is. Before and after. And of course, dang roots from something. Be another place for firewood, since nothing has ever been there.

Put some extra pavers over on that side for storage, and discovered I'd be better off moving the new wood rack next to the fence instead of behind the shed. Another (cooler) day!

Good morning everyone. We got hammered by the N'oreaster yesterday - lots of areas flooded on our property from the run off since the ground has been saturated for months. I'll check for damage this morning but both houses are OK - no basement issues.

We got our Moderna boosters yesterday - just a little arm soreness this morning.

    Stay safe out there!!

Good morning, all. A few errands today, gas came down a bit, I'll fill up. A few groceries, Moderna boosters 1230, and to get new vaccination cards. Ours both have "2nd. dose" instead of a lot number on them. Could be important, at an airport for instance. One last self-draining hose bib to install. Good report from Ophthalmologist yesterday, eyesight hasn't changed since last visit. SOP, I hope.
We've passed the torch to youngest daughter for Thanksgiving get together. Difficult decision, but best for all. Stay safe.

Edit: Different pharmacist already knew about it, had new cards ready, said "we check everything, that guy no longer works here".

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porchites! Fast moving line from that West Coast bomb passed through early morning with lots of fanfare (I'm told, I slept through most of it). Probably didn't last an hour all told, and we got a nice 3/4" to show for it - no need to water tonight! Other than that, I think I'm going to go exchange the insulation I got to get that out of the way instead of trying to combine it with other errands tomorrow. BIG decisions, I know!
    Have a great day everyone!

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch! More COOL sunshine for today, again with big winds. A fall introduction. Yesterday was fun with multiple sheets of 4x8 insulation board coming and going. Usually you tie down a load to hold it in place - this was to keep it from flying away! It's all home now. Went down to New Braunfels as well to save 15 cents/gallon on gas, as an excuse to stop at Harbor Freight for some hand tools. Just a hair cut, a Cable remote exchange, and check on some new lenses today. Don't want to overdo......

I think I finally figured out a way to put the trusses up without heavy equipment or hands and muscles I don't have.

I read this article in Discover magazine about how you can solve problems in your sleep. So I've been patient and cogitating over the situation for a while now... and yesterday morning I woke up with what I think is a solution.

I keep pencil and paper on my nightstand, so I can jot down answers to a perplexing problem/issue I had that day. Sometimes an answer will come to me in my sleep. I don't remember jotting anything down, so I always look at the pad when I get up. Three out of four times, there will be the answer, staring me in the face. I suspect I'm in rem sleep when it happens. I've done it since 1965. Wife has witnessed it, says I'm scary.

Years ago I tried that. I would wake up with tremendous ideas in the middle of the night and not be able to remember them in the morning.
I tried it for several months - had several "great" ideas and was very excited writing them down.

When I looked at the paper in the morning it was gibberish, sometimes more than a page worth. I never got one intelligible sentence, not even a one note that made a bit of sense.

Good morning all. First night of sleep with no hacking or wheezing. I actually had a 5 hour uninterrupted sleep period. I am still going to take it easy today.

:pccoffee: Gooooooooooooooooood Morning Porch Pals and Gals! And it's the best Friday of the week so far! Going to mow up all the neighbors leaves and water the pots. Think I'm supposed to get that second firewood rack today, so I can maybe put that together. Looks like the start to a beautiful weekend.

It was @Simon's Mom birthday yesterday, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Glad you're feeling better Tom - keep at it.

I dreamed how to fix the intermittent problem with my mirror temp sensor.....but it might have something to do with the photo of the hidden wires under the dash that keeps showing up on a screen saver. That was it though!

Gravel delivered late yesterday for the polebarn floor. My wife and I spent an hour spreading it and she said she'll never have to lift weights again... LOL. Still need to spread the bulk of it.

Has anyone ever poured cement over chain link fencing? I've got a bunch of it sitting around and will never use it. I've often thought I should take it to the landfill. But why not use it under the new cement floor? Thoughts?

Interesting! Can't rust any worse than rebar, and offers a lot more fill in the space.....

    Google says you can.....
"Concrete is often reinforced with rebar or a welded wire mesh, but you can accomplish the same task if you have chain link fencing left over from other projects. ... Concrete can be reinforced with chain link fencing to make it stronger."

Oil and Filter changed. 7407 miles since February purchase. What a PITA! I have an RCI Skid plate; thankfully, there is an access plate for the filter housing and hole to get the drain plug.

I forgot to take a photo of the drain plug gasket part number.

I was a bit taken aback by how strong the gasoline smell was in the oil. OEM Oil and Filter (note "made in Thailand" which is the OEM; lots of counterfeit stuff on eBay and Amazon. The cheap China counterfeit box looks slightly different and marked "made in Japan." They belong in the trash)

I pulled into the shop as it was so dang windy (recorded 50 mph gust!), but oil still went everywhere.

Challenge was the oil filter access took a hit, adding to the fun of removing it.

torque: Oil Drain Plugs (14mm hex) 30 ft-lb
Oil Filter Cap Assembly (18 ft-lb)
Oil Filter Cap Drain Plug (10 ft-lb)

Capacity with filter change: 6.2 quarts.

Yea I was amazed at how fast the oil came out! Like water. I buy my filters from the dealer, at least then I know they are legit.
