I'll take the yellow one... How much does a bike like that set you back? I especially like it that they are dual front wheels instead of rear. The stability factor in cornering at speed is impressive.

    Evening all:

Sorry to see the damage to the truck Kurt! :(

Those are some neat trikes Tom!:thumbsup:

Picked up the deer sausage around 4:30, all cut into length and am now in the process of putting it in freezer bags and putting it in the freezer. :hungry:
We went in 2 miles to hunt today and took the deer buggy along just in case, I just went along with my buddy and didn't take the bow since I got a buck and got a doe with the one tag for that area. We learned something new, it seems easier to push the deer cart with the handle than to pull it, may be a different story with a deer on it. :notsure:
I would think that in the woods and where there are rocks we will have to pull it, once on a decent path it may push easier, now I need my buddy to get a deer so we can find out!

The yellow one I bought is new. MSRP is $4350. They discount maybe $200 during winter months, but this year has been anything but typical. They are running into chain supply issues—frames built in Florida (welding, powder coating, design, assembly). The SRAM components are from Taiwan.

The other two I have bought used. Typically used is about 80% of the new price for the first few years, then 50% around 5 to 8 years old.

So they tend to hold their value. Pre Covid, I would spot a Catrike for $500, typically kids cleaning out Dad's house after he had passed away. I'd pay $500, then resell to a friend who was looking for one.

Well you said "comfort" so with that and the color it appealed to me.

It is so weird that things like chains are scarce. They are just stamped out parts done by a machine that doesn't need any babysitting. I met a guy here in the States that had a bunch of machines doing that kind of work, making him a multi-millionaire, and he was looking for someone to take over his operation. He was over ninety at the time. He just wanted an interested kid to train. Instead we hire some guy over in China to do the same thing... and then we pay shipping and have shortages when there are problems in the supply chain.
We could easily make these kinds of things here. They are literally stamped out by a machine.

I'm thinking that the bottleneck in the supply chain may provide a silver lining to this mess, starting with just the type of simple machine work you describe. What doesn't figure, is the good paying jobs going begging right here and now, like in the building trades. What we need is a reemergence of the American Middle Class.

Nice looking Pup. So inquiring minds want to know, does your CFO have thoughts when you desire a new ride? LOL Nice to see that some of us collect multiple variations of essentially the same thing. Serious question: Where do you store the trikes? Looks like they would take up some real estate in a garage or dedicated shed.

Sorry Kurt. When you use a vehicle sometimes stuff just happens. This looks like a 2K repair unless you do it yourself.

I like the way you think about this Pandemic and the opportunities that are emerging. A lot of our countries problems are a direct result of politicians in the 80's and 70's casting aside manufacturing to other countries at the request of the manufactures. Had they said no and instead offered incentives to rebuild factories we would probably have USA made goods at an affordable price. I try to buy American but it is hard at times. Lots of items are just not made in America anymore and if they are the cost is astronomical. If I want a quality made in USA product I try to look for sales from the maker.

Have a good day everyone. I am off to the Cardiologist today. Regular 6 month check up.

    Truer words were never spoken...

But at the risk of being slapped on the hands... that would mean a return to political reason and valuing compromise.

    :pccoffee: Goooooooooood Morning Porch People!

Looks like a fine day to mow twice. Big North wind, cloudy, and 65* tops. Going to give the lawn a winter haircut, and it looks better when you take a little at a time. Despite the tangle with the tire yesterday, was a fine day otherwise. Diabetes Doctor loved me, gave me another 6 months. Found a place in Georgetown where I could actually lay hands on the fireplace inserts I want, and they could actually get one around January if I buy now. So, I was amazed when Carol didn't have a cow at the price, and it looks like the process will begin shortly!
Money's no good if you don't spend it on cool stuff! :spending:

I try my best to be Middle Class! I'll swing by my paint and body guy on Friday, and see what he says. At least I avoided all the nuts in Austin traffic, and considering being on the highway, could have been a lot worse if that flying shred hit a door or window. If it's too much, I have a hammer.

    Have a great day everyone!

OK, Carl - and the rest of you hunters - I know everyone LOVES poachers, so here is a laugh for you

After shooting decoy, charges pile up for suspected deer poachers (msn.com)

My garage is 30' x 50'. Big workshop! The photo below is from 2005? My daughter came out early in the morning and joined in helping.

I've sold off my metal lathe, still need to sell the milling machine. A friend did an "oh chit moment" on his lathe, wrapping his arm in and around the chuck. Belt-driven machine, so belts slipped which saved his life. His wife couldn't hear him yelling, daughter stopped by and was able to power down the machine after he had been trapped for 20 minutes. Pretty much ripped every tendon in his arm, about two years' worth of surgery and rehab. For me, it was a good wake-up call that I shouldn't be using big machinery! I still have my CNC woodworking machine, but with a big "Emergency Stop" button but well clear of the machine when running.

I had always dreamed of retiring and having a metal/woodshop that could build anything. Parkinson's had other ideas. So I've been slowly cleaning things out. Specific machining tools were sold off (eBay). Thankfully most of the stuff I bought over the years was Starrett, so those hold value.

Yesterday I got in 30 minutes on the rowing machine, 60 minutes cycling, and 60 minutes boxing. I'm in good shape but surprised my HR wasn't higher when rowing (stayed under 120); Cycling when I push it gets above 120. I'll push as hard as possible charging up hills (170) then drop to 120 to recover to the next hill. Boxing will vary (core workouts and boxing) but if I am dripping in sweat good work out. HR monitor had me at 48 sleeping, 52 RHR. I had first met with a cardiologist as I didn't have electrical signals, but a strong pulse! Lack of potassium (lots of exercise in extreme heat). Wasn't thinking clearly, they couldn't get an HR (I have to turn off my brain pacer - aka Deep Brain Stimulation). Doc was shocked to feel a strong pulse, but not pick up readings. Drank a cup of "liquid potassium" followed by a Gatorade chaser. Nasty stuff, but did the trick. 15 minutes later.

I have no idea what that is but is just makes me laugh.

Went to using the riding mower to clean up the (nearly) last of the leaves and my belt broke on the mower blade drive. Dang.

The path of least resistance was and is more attractive to manufacturers then and now, which is why the present supply problems are serving to rekindle American investment.
And, while it's nice to espouse Buy American (don't we all?), the truth is that we will buy what we can buy when we can find it. Keeping that in mind then, I hope to hell that the supply bottleneck will continue long enough to level the playing field.
About the politicians of the 70's and 80's, that's a lot of guilt to dump on just two decades of politicians. In my view, the difference between a good politician and a bad politician is a matter of one being lucky enough to be in office at the right time in history. They all, without exception, pander to the vote, which is the definition of a Democracy, at once being the best and the worst form of government. (Who said that?)

Morning/afternoon all. I don’t post much lately cause I find I’m just too busy. Not doing major projects like many of you , I use to do those things but keep myself involved in other pursuits like hunting, fishing, social activities with friends and acquaintance’s ,travel, reading, gardening, small wood craft projects etc. etc. etc. I just burned myself out on major home projects and working on vehicles. We had our home built 8 years ago and there really isn’t any improvements we want. As far as landscape I have a gardener take care of all that. Back in the day I helped build houses, remolded my homes, home maintenance, built thousands of feet of fence, did all my own car repair, built and modified muscle cars and drag cars……. Now a days I have other pursuits. I do admire and am impressed with all the the things you all present here. Ya all are very talented. I’m impressed with the people in this group.

Two other quick topics. Poaching, I despise poachers. I’m a stickler for following fish and game laws. Been a hunter/fisherman all my life , always ethical and never broken any fish/game laws that I am aware of. I have a 800 number on my phone that I can report violators and on several occasions have gotten dirtbags busted.

Lastly supply chain. Many people do not know this but a large number of our generic prescription drugs are manufactured in China (and India)and many drug ingredients come directly from China. Should there be supply chain problems with that or should China intentionally slow or stop the supply people may die, especially older people who need certain drugs to maintain life. Just something to think about. I’d like to see all drug manufacture come back to the US.

Anyway all you porch people have a great day!
