In this state the governor asks us to pray...

Well, some things worked out better than other things. Primary reason for Harbor Freight was the gennie battery. Gone by the time I got there, or inaccurate on-line (fairly common). Spent monies anyway. Primary stop at Lowe's was for garage door weather strip, and a ground lug for a rebar stick. Neither in San Marcos! Go to Kyle. Find some make do lugs, and some threshold for a double door. Make do. And they don't have a bunch of door stuff like they did before, no all just generic fit parts. And the threshold is with window stripping, and not much choice.... Sheesh. Ended up ordering a lug and a battery from Amazon when I got home.

Last stop was WalMart, and I was checking out the meats - found these 1 1/2" pork chops for $8 the pair! First thing I did was get out the phone and Google "Can I reverse sear these?" Sure enough.

The nice thing about that cook is that it made it easy to work around how late Mikkel got home. Once he says he's coming, I had the smoker already set for warming the chops to 130 for about 40 minutes, which is close to how long it takes him to get home. Once he was, and everything else was ready, the 700*F treatment for a couple minutes!

They was good! And now I know I can look for something else in the store.

    Good morning fellow Porchies!

High of 31 yesterday, supposed to be in the upper 30s today.....60ish tomorrow with lots of rain.

The deck for our new bridge got poured yesterday. Now they need to structure/pour the winds and then repair the road, get the stream flowing back under the bridge and replace/repair all the dirt/damage they did to our property in the right of way. Looks like they will be done before Christmas.

No big plans for today. Winter life here in northeast PA.

:pccoffee:  Think I'll try to split some of the rounds in our firewood pile this morning. Been a while since I've tried swinging an axe with this bum shoulder. Wish me luck.

    Good morning fellow Porchies!!

Got to see a bunch of my old team from the college at a retirement send off last night - man do I miss them. Great folks!

Today is the most important football day of the year - Army-Navy Game. Not sure who I'm rooting for this year.

Hellish storms last night, KY hit with a 200mile long F5, moving ENE. Wind, rain tornado warnings here. Glad most leaves are down. Can't tell more until daylight. No power glitches, unusual.

Front passed, wind changed to N early AM, now 40+MPH. Storm is still moving E. Power company is hard at it, we've seen several line trucks up and down our road this AM.

Yeoww! Found out we're hosting a Christmas dinner next Sat. Got busy installing the new garbage disposal, since sinks, dishwasher drain into it. Only one trip to the hardware store, didn't want to chance old plumber's putty. Works perfect. Hard place to work for an old man.

I was tired yesterday, slept poorly the night before, so I took a nap yesterday myself.

Go Army!!! I may watch if I have my chores finished or I may have the game on in the background. Funny how over 50 years later I still root for Army. Learned a lot of life lessons in the Army.

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals! Front came in! First freeze is likely tonight - the ultimate greenhouse insulation test. Wind is frustrated here - neighbors trees have already been stripped, and all their leaves have been in and out of the pool already. Looks like I got to play freezer detective after a run to the store. While it sounds like a fan, the continual humming that started 2 days ago is somehow ice maker related according to the trouble shooting sites. So, going to have to empty and poke around. COULD be the fan in the freezer, but they describe different noises for that. We shall see.

Army-Navy. The only game I root for both sides. Usually a lot of fun regardless of records.

Actual snow plows only exist "up North" in Texas. DFW and such. The rest of us get road graders.
