8.5 hp. The shop owner has this model and says it will throw dry snow in excess of 40 ft. It has electric start capability but it starts with about 1/2 pull of the cord.

    Morning all:
:annoyed: We went out FL hunting this morning, some guys were hunting snowshoes and the dogs chasing will move deer, only problem was they were at the same place that my buddy went to hunt, no deer to be seen there!

Maby your thoughts are the same as mine Mark, buy a new snowblower and you may not get to use it, which would be just fine with me,
BUT, we do live in the NE, just a matter of time!!!!

Good morning fellow Porchatonians!! Rain verging on freezing overnight - temps are supposed to rise a bit today, though.

    Be safe out there!!!

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Gals! This just in! Our "first freeze" of the year (winter), will be NEXT year! That's right, down to 30* in 1/1 overnight. Goes away real quick into the normal 50*s though. Time for the bearings this morning. I tell myself it will be fun!

It snowed last night. Not a lot, but we'll take it.

I have a wood stove for the pole barn. Since the floor won't be poured without heat, I'm thnking about suspending the stove from the rafters so the barn can be heated and it will be out of the way for the floor to be poured. If it works out, and I don't see why it wouldn't, I suspect I would leave it raised. My old bones don't like bending over if I don't have to and a higher stove will mean I don't have to bend to load it or to clean it out.

The stove has a facility for forced air but I don't have any kind of blower motor other than my shop vac. Not sure a shop vac is a good idea because it would have to run continuously and it moves a LOT of air. I was in a store yesterday and the Christmas decorations were on sale and I noticed the blow-up stuff... with continuously running small fans. I'm gonna check out if I can get just the fan, but are there other ideas anybody has? I suspect a leaf blower would do the job but there again, too much air.

    Be well people...

I like it. Just Google "replacement blower for blow up decoration". So cheap, you have to try it! You can always wire it up to an old 600Q incandescent dimmer as a speed control.

I made one, but eventually bought the one made for my stove. Two speeds, runs great.

Well, I've never done it before, but I've done it now! Passenger side was OK,

    20211228_124626.jpg

driver side was borked bad. That's where the bad noise was... (hearing aids make it so much fun).

Trip up to Michigan was easy. Rained off and on from Frederick, MD to the middle of Ohio. Light sleet and ice at Breezewood, PA. Fog from Toledo to Clarkston , MI with light snow on the ground north of Detroit. Very little truck traffic and moderate car traffic the entire trip. Nice to see family again. Have a great week everyone.

    Breaking news:

This just in. There will be NO New Years Day Holiday next year.

    Truth.

When a Holiday falls on a Sunday, the observance will be on the Monday following.
When a holiday falls on a Saturday, it will be observed on the preceding Friday.

Good Grief! That means we'll have to celebrate New Year's Eve with a hangover!

    Good morning fellow Porchatonians!!

We made an overnight visit to our son and his family in northern VA on Tuesday. It was great to see them all in person, see their house renovation and take them out to dinner. We even managed to time it so we missed the majority of the typical 270/beltway traffic. Life is good!!

    Stay safe out there!!!
